Cycling gloves that do the job well at a reasonble price
Finally, a pair of short-fingered cycling gloves that did the job, just right. They fit well, have a padded palm, air circulates through the woven tops, and they were competitively priced. It often seems too easy to get way too high prices for sport-specific gear, but not in this case. They do the job well, as a cycling glove should.

Great gloves for cycling.
Great gloves for cycling. Comfortable and soft. A good change from standard gloves. More of a classic look.

Super comfy traditional gloves which wear well but beware of the stinkinesss!
I've always used string back gloves- they keep my hands cool, the slightly rough texture on the back helps wipe away sweat without irritating and they are super absorbent. The leather palms are durable and quite comfy with just enough padding and great grip. They are very long lasting, I get a season or two out of them easily. One note, this brand in particular (which seems to be the only decent brand since Nashbar went to pot) seems to collect "stank". I have washed them with borax and such, soaked them, done everything but soak them in perfume but they still have stank on them. My other winter and fall gloves get the same level of abuse but don't stink so I really can't figure out what's going on with these. Highly recommended esp for the nasally challenged and those who like the "retro look". For those who have only used the "modern" lycra gloves, you owe it to yourself to try a set of stringbacks. There's a reason they were popular back in the day- they are wonderfully cool and comfy.

Cool aesthetic gloves
Love the style of these, reminds me of a pair I had from the 80's. Well made, so far standing the test of time after some weeks of dedicated riding. Comfort padding on the parts that need padding. The weave pattern allows air flow well enough to keep the hands from overheating, but also protects against sunburn on hot days just fine. No complaints, good gloves that I can't find fault with.

Not quite as important as a helmet but very important if you fall
I've fallen twice at high speed downhill when I hit a deep potholes in the street night. (WW II damage in the poor sec. of town, they'll never fix it.) The bike went down and I was alone, flying thru the air over the rough asphalt street... The Kevlar (black) on the lower palms, just where your hands instinctively hit the road and are scraped long & hard, would be a bloody mess if not for good gloves. Yet the Kevlar was only slightly buffed, still like new. Just like a helmet, you can ride without gloves, but you may regret it. I bought mine in '11, and I think they ARE leather. Durable, but after many months of riding they'll look somewhat shabby, but it ain't a fashion parade out on the mean streets outside the Ring in Vienna! [Thank God the petrol is 8 per gallon here, or there would be even MORE cars on the streets. The Eight Euro/gal. forces most stubborn Teutons into taking the excellent tram system or riding their bikes.] The crochet backs are natural off-white colour cotton, helps a little with visibility at night. Wash on delicate or by hand, to reduce the shabby wear-out. The washing machine can beat them up after a few washes. They grip the hands well & fit snug (you'll need that if you fall hard), and are comfortable, and like all gloves help keep hands warm against that cold rushing wind as you cycle. If you're the type of [completely insane] rider who has a dusty black bike without even a back reflector, flying downhill at night thru all the stops at 44 MPH wearing all black, you'll not want these off-white gloves ruining your death wish. You could buy a bottle of black dye. Save the rest of the dye for when your loving Auntie knits you a royal blue cap.

Decent buy
Comfortable gloves but quality control is questionable at times. I like these gloves and have had about six pair so far. I've had a few pair with inconsistent finger lengths and minor stitching defects but they have always held together surprisingly well. I like the mesh backing and palm reinforcement.

Tough, and durable, these gloves can last several seasons. No delicate lycra to be found, here. The backings are constructed of a heavy cotton mesh, with solid leather and kevlar palms. All seams are well sewn. I used them while hiking up Mt. Fuji to grasp, and scramble over volcanic rock, and they STILL lasted another biking season. Great product.

Great retro looking gloves. Cotton mesh tops for wiping the sweat off your brow.

I have short wide hands. These gloves fit better than most I have tried. Other gloves have been too tight unless I by a size that is way too long. They are one of the most comfortable gloves I have owned. The string back are cooler in the summer than the cloth back.

i purchased these gloves a few months ago for my husband. He is a paraplegic and uses a manuel wheelchair, so wears gloves to protect his hands. They get daily all day use. Unlike if used bike riding were your hands are stationary pretty much in one spot while riding. In a wheelchair you hands are being repostioned each push. Which causes alot of wear and strain on gloves. And the hands are used for breaking also. The gloves have held together so far, no split seams and half decent padding in the palms. The woven tops allow for the air/hands to breath. will buy these again.
