Best WCW history book ever published!
This book has so much in it to read that it is overwhelming to me! It is a awesome look back at the years of 1989-1994 in WCW with card results from EVERY show they held! It really takes me back to the years watching those wrestlers and matches and realizing how good WCW was back then compared to the years to come for them! The book was well worth the purchase price and came exceptionally fast!

Incredible book! A must-have for old-school NWA/JCP fans!
I cannot recommend this book enough, for a lot of reasons. It covers perhaps the greatest territory (NWA Mid-Atlantic/Jim Crockett Promotions) ever. It covers a fascinating period of time in the history of wrestling, which was really the beginning of the WWF expansion nationwide which led to a wrestling war that lasted several years between JCP and WWE. It chronicles the history of several incredible feuds, such as Slaughter/Kernodle v. Youngblood/Steamboat, Dusty v. Ric Flair, Magnum TA v. Tully Blanchard, etc.Visually, the book is awesome. It is laid out very professionally and is easy to read, with quality graphics. It contains results for practically every JCP-promoted show over the 83-88 time period, with attendance figures for several of the shows. However, my favorite part of the book is that it is illustrated with numerous newspaper ads, posters, etc. that were used to advertise many of the events listed in the book. This book doesn't just cover big shows like the Starrcades and Great American Bashes, it covers them all, great and small. If you are an old-school fan like me, the illustrations will really make you wax nostalgic for the good old days of territorial wrestling.Besides the illustrations, my other favorite feature is that the book also chronicles every known wrestling card where the NWA title was defended during the same period of 83-88. Therefore, you not only get match results from JCP cards, you also get records from entire wrestling cards from Georgia Championship Wrestling, World Class, Portland, Florida, Alabama, Japan, and other NWA territories where the NWA title was defended. It really makes you appreciate the absolutely insane schedule of the NWA champ back in the day.Besides match results, there are also written summaries of entire JCP TV shows of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, World-Wide Wrestling, and World Championship Wrestling that help to capture the important story lines and angles that were leading to the matches in the arenas.I am looking forward to future editions from other territories in the future from these guys. I would love to see a similar book covering Mid-South, Florida, and especially Georgia Championship Wrestling from the 70's and 80's.Buy this book!!!

WORTH IT
I'm a history buff, so books like this are my bag. I got into wrestling in 1997, so I needed to learn as much about the history as possible. I have been listening to Conrad Thompson's stuff for a couple years, so this is right up my alley!

Volume 4 is the best edition yet.
Volume 4 of The History of Wrestling series is the best of the 4 volumes. What sets this volume apart from the previous volumes is the input of people who was there. This volume deals with WCW from 1989 thru 1994. There is insight from Terry Funk, Chris Criuse, Gary Michael Cappeta, William Regal, and others. If you are a longtime wrestling fan then you know that this featured timeframe isn't the best of WCW/NWA but it had a lot of positives as well. Steamboat/Flair trilogy, Sting/Muta, Flair/Funk, emergence of Brian Pillman, Steve Austin, Dangerous Alliance, Vader, Dustin Rhodes, Lex Luger's legendary US Title reigns, Ricky Steamboat coming back in 1991, and so much more.....and volume 4 covers all of this. Also the way the major cards are singled out and highlighted is great as well. All the ppv cards and Clash of Champions thru these years each have there own page. In short if you liked volumes 1 thru 3 of this series you will love volume 4. Great buy.

Mick from Vic Australia
This is a really great compilation of match listings and results from a fantastic era. Jim Crocketts promotion really had the best talent of the time available to them. Being from Australia we had no wrestling broadcast after 1978 Purchasing this was a real joy . We were able to watch Wwf in the 80s and WCW in the 90s on free to air TV . Australian wrestling until 1978 was affiliated with the NWA so luckily l saw some of these guys in action. Any way this book is a must for any fan wanting to learn some history on a wonderful era.

Great wrestling book
It is nice having a record of the matches that were wrestled since I remember seeing some of those same matches on TV when I watched WTBS as a kid.

Jim Crockett Promotions
Make no mistake about it - this is not just a chronicle of results. This is an entire history of JCP (1983 - 1988). You want to trace what was happening with the NWA World Title? It's all here. Not just the results, but also comments on what was happening in some of the matches themselves, as well as newspaper clippings and photos/posters of many of the cards mentioned. And you can easily follow the feuds as they began and developed throughout the territory. But not just on the (more well known) shows like Starrcade - this is a timeline through all of the house shows that JCP ran at the time, sometimes with multiple shows on the same day! Graham Cawthon has done a fantastic job on the book, having spent literally years gathering, and documenting, all of the information on this period in wrestling history (amongst others). For wrestling history enthusiasts, this book is a must. For those interested in finding out how the business developed, this is the book for you. If you're just into reading who beat who and when, then you need to get your hands on this book. Featuring a foreword from none other than legendary wrestling manager. promoter & booker Jim Cornette, this book should find its way onto the shelf of anyone who has even a passing interest in professional wrestling history. It's always said that you don't know where you're going until you know where you've been. Thanks to Graham's series of books, it has never been easier to find out.

Like stepping back in time.
This book is AWESOME! As a WCW fan i couldn't wait to get this book and when it came i was not disappointed. Charting the history of the company from 1989 to 1994, this book takes you on a trip down memory lane. As well as the ring results there are in depth pay-per-view results and little tidbits of information about hirings, firings and other incidents. I can't wait for the next volume. :)

Five Stars
An excellent book.

It is a compilation of results but there's not much history and storytelling
The book has a very thorough compilation of results in the Crockett territory. It doesn't have the background and the buildup to the matches. If all you want are results it's excellent. If you want to know about the buildup and the attendance and paid attendance it falls short

Great resource
A good collection to keep handy. Exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. Nice to actually have between two covers as opposed to simply on-line.
