Great follow up from the inventor.
This is a follow up I received from Scott Higginbotham, President of TL Tools, the inventor of the Add An Inch tool and my reply. These communications say it all. A great tool from an obviously great company.Joseph,Glad to hear the tool is helping you. It is great to get feedback on the different ways people are using the tool and I really appreciate you taking the time to reply and letting me know.If you wouldn’t mind it would be extremely helpful to me if you would post this under the Amazon reviews for our product.Once again I would like to thank you for ordering the Add an Inch Tool and if there is anything I can help you with please let me know.Best regards,Scott HigginbothamTL Tools------------------------On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, 11:46 AM, Joseph W. My Dad was a General Contractor so by default, even though I work in emergency medicine, I have a greater than passing knowledge of nearly all the building trades. The Add An Inch tool has applications in all of them from masonry, to carpentry, to electrical and beyond. As a matter of fact, I first used your invention to accurately measure and cut modifications to a pvc waste line. Taking the guesstimate measurements aspect out of the project was an invaluable time saver. You have also obviously gone to a great deal of trouble to ensure a level of production quality, professional level construction and usefulness so rarely seen in today’s high profit, low quality products. I just wanted you to know that your efforts are appreciated. Thanks,Joe Howard

Works as described and easy to use.
Great product and I keep it handy in my tool belt. The way that I use it is to put it on tape measure and clamp it down at measurement that I need and then mark my workpiece to length, and then return to tool belt till I have another corner piece to measure. It is easy to put on tape measure and the idiot that stated they had a hard time mounting to their tape measure and posted a negative feedback really should not be playing with power tools.

Great tool for measuring from a corner
The idea is unique and useful for measuring corners accurately. As you see from my picture the tool fits over your tape and shows the exact measurement in a small window. Whatever your window shows add 1 inch; so in my picture it shows 9 and 7/8 inches. Notice the end piece extends 1 inch so the measurement at the end piece is 10 and 7/8. It includes a bubble level so you can keep your measurements level. A Stanley Fatmax might not fit in this but my Lufkin works fine. So if you're trying to measure 8'9 and 1/4 " from a wall, set the measurement on the tool then lay the tool against the corner and wherever the hook on your tape ends that is 8'10 and 1/4 inches. So you set the tool at 1" less than where you want to measure.

Way overpriced
It works, but it's not easy to use. For the money this thing should be awesome, but it falls way short. Just cut a small piece of one inch aluminum angle iron, hold it in the corner, measure to the edge, and add an inch.

Solves a real problem and belongs in your tool chest!
A great tool for solving the problem of measuring into a corner or from higher to the floor. A couple of quirks: 1) there is no instruction telling you how to mount this in your tape...I finally figured out that the tape slides in from the side—maybe I’m just slow but it took me about 10 minutes to figure it out. 2) The tape is not stable in the tool, it tends to get cockeyed in the holder and even dropped off the tape once. I really like the tool because it solves a real problem so I will live with the tape alignment problem, but for precise measurements you’ll need to make sure the alignment is correct visually.UPDATE: After reading my review, the owner/inventor sent me a new one without me asking! He stated that the product should not be loose on the tape and mine was defective. What great service! Because of his unsolicited response, I’ve raised my rating from 4 to 5 stars! By the way, the new one works perfectly with no slippage on the tape. He also stated there is a video on YouTube, search for “Add an Inch Tool”, with a newer video on the way. Thanks Scott for the outstanding customer service!

Three Reasons Why I'm Going With Two Stars Here!
The media could not be loaded. Here are my three reasons for going with two stars here:1. This cheap piece of plastic perhaps 3X more expensive than it should be. Note that you can use a standard carpenter's pencil to accomplish this measurement, since every carpenter's pencil is .5" wide.2. This so-called "tool" solves a problem that doesn't exist, since every tape measure ALREADY lists how wide it is. Just run your tape measure up to your corner and deduct the listed width of the tape measure. Carpenters and woodworkers have been doing that for over 50 years.3. Only in the most ideal situations is this easy to use. You need to be able to reach that corner, lay the so-called tool flat, and push it to the corner. This pushing REQUIRES that the tape be strongly anchored on the other end. If it's not, it will slip off.I could also say that the thumb screw keeps getting in my way, tightening up, and thus keeping the so-called tool from slipping over my tape. I could say that I see no reason at all or the built in mini-levels. They just look cool but I would never actually use them on a measurement of this kind. Now yes, I'm a negative and grouchy reviewer sometimes. But I'm simply not going to participate in the HYPE of this tool that is really not needed, is overpriced, and is often very hard or impossible to use.

Slides easily for easy measurement
Slides easily for easy measurement . Others clamp on too hard not allowing for easy measurement adjustment.
