Reawakened
A timely and beautiful reminder of what the creator intended relationships to be.When so many of us the West and sadly in African are behaving as though we have no memory of our true selves, it is of no wonder the creator sent this beautiful soul so we can re-member ourselves to the spirit within. In deep gratitude for such an intimate guide.

Truly beautiful
Truly beautiful book with deep teachings from a brave woman who had to leave the comfort of her land and family in order to spread the messages in this book. It's something we most people lack in the West- a connection and a relationship with spirit.I borrowed it from a friend and sat down to read a couple pages and instead I lay down and read the whole thing and then ordered a copy for me and a copy to be sent to my sister.Truly beautiful.

Great resource on sensuality in ancient Western African culture
"Intimacy is a song of spirit inviting two people to come and share their spirit together," Sobonfu Somé says in this insightful book on intimacy and sacred sensuality from a traditional African perspective. According to the author, "intimacy is a sacred thing and should not be messed with." She provides an enlightening account of male-female relationships in the traditional West African Dagara culture, which views intimacy far more than a means of pleasure; it is a sacred act. So many romantic relationships in the West are driven by control and ego says the West African writer who encourages married couples to periodically renew their relationship before communicating in deeper states of intimacy. According to Sombé, to make relationships healthy again, people must put control and ego aside and allow their spirits to connect with each other. The Spirit of Intimacy is an informative and interesting read for men and women on sacred sensuality from an African woman's perspective who draws upon ancient African teachings in the way of relationships. This is a good read for anyone interested in learning about intimacy in traditional African cultures.

The Spirit of Intimacy
"The Spirit of Intimacy" provides a very refreshing prospective of relationships and intimacy in the traditional African setting. There is much to think about in this book and it did have me looking at the relationships I maintain with those around me. Indeed there may be valuable relationship lessons to be found in its pages even for us living in Western Society. Recommended reading!
