It is the go-to book for independent coaches, health care professionals, and is often used as a text for college and university classes. The second edition continues to provide a comprehensive methodology combining the tenets of wellness with the principles of coaching. Each chapter has something new, drawing from the additional years of experience Dr. Arloski has acquired since the publication of the original edition. He has woven this new wisdom seamlessly into the old, creating clear, easy to use best practices. When asked what part of the new edition is most improved, Dr. Arloski points to Chapter 8: 'This chapter has been completely revised based on what we've learned training thousands and thousands of wellness coaches around the world. We are told over and over again that the Wellness Mapping 360 Methodology is what coaches find most valuable and in this new edition we've refined it much further. So many coaches just do 'goal setting' with their clients. Here we show how to really co-create a fully integrated wellness plan for lasting lifestyle change.' The positive connection between the coach and the person who wants to make a change empowers the individual to recognize and draw on his or her own abilities and resources to make lasting changes for better health. The book that built the field
Arloski's work here is the foundation almost every legitimate health coaching program traces back to. He built the field, and this book is the map. I first read it years ago and still revisit it regularly. The strengths-based positive psychology framing of behavior change has held up across hundreds of client sessions, and the "coaching to the gap" framework was foundational for how I structure mine. New coaches will get clarity on the role and the methodology. Experienced coaches will find their fundamentals get sharper. Highly recommend.

An invaluable resource!!
I had the privilege to be trained as a health and wellness coach from Dr. Arloski through his company Real Balance Wellness a few years ago. Since then I have gone through their Advanced and Mentor coach trainings. I feel extremely fortunate that I was trained in their methodology. I am currently utilizing my coaching skills as I start up a health coaching program in a teaching hospital's primary care setting. I used Dr. Arloski's original book as my coaching Bible. As I read through his second edition I am just as impressed. He makes wellness attainable to all of us by his deep understanding of behavioral health. The references to other founders in the wellness field and mentions of helpful resources truly makes this book an invaluable resource. He has done all the hard work for us coaches and passed it on to us in this book. Every time I read a new chapter and apply it in the coaching session, myself and the client benefit. This book is a go to guide for all coaches and for anyone who wants to make sustainable lifestyle changes.

Solid, reliable and inspiring concepts for wellness coaching
I like the no-nonsense approach to important concepts and theories underlying wellness coaching, and the inspiring tone of voice of Dr Arloski. Whilst most of the content will sound familiar to the person who knows about coaching, and life coaching, the spirit that brings the different things together is really inspiring.
