The first time, I was having trouble figuring out how to move the suction evenly across my face. I felt scratches on my face, which I could feel but could not see. A week later, I thought to give it a try again, and I was pulling the suction across my face with more confidence. I felt more scratches and red marks. At one spot, the scratch became a little deep. It took a few days to heal, which became a slight scar. I was upset and waited another week before I had the nerve to try again. I decided to change the grey disc that originally came with it. I tried many times but couldn't get the grey discs out. Unfortunately, I was a day late and missed the return window. I contacted PMD by email and explained my situation. They responded immediately and asked me to send a video of me trying to remove the disc and the purchase info. They sent a return label, and three weeks later, they replaced it with a new PMD. The first thing I did was remove the grey disc and put it back to ensure it was working. Since then, I have used it a few times and don't feel any scratches on my face. From this experience, the disc was stuck too tight the first time, which caused those scratches. My advice is to remove the disc and reinsert it before using PMD. The scar has been getting lighter since I started with the new PMD. My skin feels very soft, and the dark circle under my eyes has greatly improved. I am very happy with the PMD customer support.

So far, I like it!
This is an early review, as I've only used the PMD four times over five weeks so far. I'm a 27 year old female, and so I don't have a ton of wrinkles but I was wanting to even out my skin tone, acne scars, and see if I could reduce the blackheads on my nose, forehead, and cheeks. I followed the instructional dvd and tried it. A word of warning; although the dvd warns against leaving the machine too long in one place, sometimes the suction can just suck your skin in a spot and before you realize it you done left it too long. So I can't overemphasize the importance of holding your skin taut when using the PMD. Also the blue microdermabrasion disks are something to work up to, and I'm not talking about over 1 month, but longer. Your skin needs to get used to the system. So my actual experience: The first time I used the PMD, I used the green "sensitive" disk (I know I think the dvd says start with white to get used to it but I'm impatient), did my whole face, and the suction got caught on my cheek and under-eye area (also I know the dvd also said avoid the under-eye area haha, but I had a couple age spots I was hoping to get rid of). It tingled, didn't hurt too badly, but over the course of the next 3 days scarring appeared, especially over the areas the PMD got stuck. By another 3 days later though all that dead skin had peeled off, with what looked like happier skin underneath. So by another week later I decided to do a treatment again. Same exact thing happened. A week after the 2nd treatment, all the scarred skin had peeled off, but I decided to wait a week and not barrage my skin with treatments. Also I didn't necessarily like the whole "scar-then-peel" process I had been doing because during the time my skin was scarring my face looked ugly until that skin peeled off lol and my parents were wondering if something was wrong with me. So I waited another week before doing the 3rd treatment. When doing the 3rd treatment, I held my skin more taut, the PMD didn't suck into my skin too long anywhere, and I completely avoided my under-eye and gave up trying to get those age spots. I had no scarring and my face looked pretty much normal the entire week. Since my skin seemed to be doing fine, I did my 4th treatment a week later. I'm still using the sensitive disk, and this time I also used the wider sensitive disk to try on select body areas. Overall: I had some darker areas on my cheeks that seem to be lightening up, and the overall texture of my skin seems improved and more rejuvenated. I use less makeup, although I for sure use sunscreen every day. I'm looking forward to seeing further benefits, and would consider this product a super win if it gets rid of those unsightly blackheads and bumpies on my nose. But so far, I like it!

Risk greater than reward
First, it’s expensive for what it is. It’s a handheld (has to be plugged in) that vacuums and microdermabrasion away dead skin. But I was hopeful to help save money in the long run. Where the wand went smoothly across my skin, there were no issues. But where the device sucked too hard, I have burn marks and scabs from the white training disk on my skin. There was no way to break the suction of the vacuum without continuing to run across the skin or turn it off. Ouch! All night my face burned and by the morning I had scabs. Face still burns. I only used the white training disk, I can’t imagine how bad it would have been if I used the other more intense disks! This is not my first microdermabrasion. I’ve done many times at the spa (I prefer hydra facials!). The biggest problem with this device is that there is no protection for your skin in case something like this happens. It’s like it just sucked too hard for a bit and then it went back to working “normally”. I was hopeful to find something to work between spa visits but this hurts your skin. I believe that the risk is greater than the reward.

The PMD is fantastic! After one use I noticed an even skine tone with some brightness. Just got it. The next day I applied my makeup and felt my skin was so smooth. Very happy so far

I am happy with the results and don't think I'll ever have to pay for a facial again. I exfoliate using the PMD roughly every fortnight and the serums and oils are obviously absorbed because since using the PMD my skin has become soft and smooth. I also started using a home laser on my face monthly - and never in the same week as I exfoliate. My skin hasn't looked so good since I paid a fortune for the most advanced facials. Admittedly the serums are good, but the PMD allows them to be absorbed beautifully.
