Occidental Leather5500 Electrician's Tool Pouch

I was using the other, larger occidental electricians tool pouch for nearly two years but after getting over the idea that I should carry every tool I might need all week on my person all day I decided to switch to this smaller pouch. We do a lot of commercial and residential new construction and this tool pouch does me just fine. When I purchased mine there didn’t seem to be too many pictures from electricians doing the sort of work I do so I thought I’d try to pay it forward a bit.For those wondering the build quality is excellent, the layout is very logical and streamlined. I added a tape measure clip and riveted one slot so that my volt pen wouldn’t fall out. I honestly think I carry pretty typical tools for an electrician except my little hammer. I’m mostly pounding in boxes and staples and it doesn’t smack me in the back of the knee when it’s in the hammer loop.This pouch won’t disappoint unless you want to carry the kitchen sink. That being said the longer I’ve been doing this the more I realize that a good electrician has the right tools for the job but learning how to use those tools well means that I don’t need all that many tools on my person at any given time. With a little for thought I can be sure I’ve got what I need without carrying so much that may back gets sore. If you want to wear a tool bet but don’t want tons of back problems this may be the pouch for you.

If you are doing a few outlets / light fixtures = okay tool pouch. I am remodeling - so lots of outlets, lights, ceiling fans, new 100 amp sub-panel in garage - so I ordered this thinking it was worth the money. My father was an industrial electrician who carried tools over 20 years and his leather tool pouch is not quite the same as this. His is well over 20 years old and will outlast him I suspect. This one from Occidental is a bit stiff but it would break in with years of use for the electrician - like dads. This has small pouches or dividers in it that don't work for the organization of the standard tools - or specific shape/size pouches that don't work with most common quality tools. At least not to my liking. Most of my tools are Klein electrical tools - grew up with an electrician father. But the flashlight holder is for a specific size flashlight so none of my "Streamlight" flashlights are either to skinny and fall through or bigger than I want to carry. The open hole bottom pouches may let one tool slip too far down it is hard to get back out or funnel shaped so that dykes will fit but handles lay to far out - needle nose go to far down with the hole cut out - not big enough for Fluke volt meter - screwdriver rings don't organize all that well or let 6-in-1 adjustable's fall through. Just didn't work to my liking especially to organize my mostly Klein tools. Found the McGuire-Nicholas 526-CC Brown Professional Electrician'S Pouch to work better for my needs and size for the DIY home guy. This is decent leather and pouch - I do a lot of DIY home electrical projects with friends and family - This never sat well with me.

I work as a industrial mechanic. I bought this paired with their 2" wide belt and it is by far the best setup you can get. It sure beats lugging around a big tool tote bag and having your shoulder hurt all day long. This carries all the tools I need for daily routine maintenance and doesn't hurt my shoulder carrying it all day. Can't Recommend this enough.

Extremely happy with this product! At first just holding it in hand, especially loaded with tools it feels heavy. However when ya get it on your belt and around the waist it feels lite! I really like how the pouch forms to your hip/leg.You hardly notice it on your side. The pockets are nice and snug, holds your tools and dont have to worry bout them falling out while working. Some of the pockets are actually smaller then what i would like, but that i can get use to. The hammer loop i do not use for a hammer, i have a spot on my belt with a hammer loop. However a 12 volt drill/impact fits nicely in it. I do not keep the drill there full time, just when i am using it, such as hanging box ect.....The tape chain works just like any other, good solid connection to the bag.The entire bag is very strong, great leather, solid construction, will last forever. Need more great American made products similar to what occidental leather produces.I am proud to own this pouch, and would purchase again! The price might seem high, but i wear this 5 to 7 days a week, and it will last for at least 10 years i think that it is worth every penny.

Nice tool pouch not to bulky but holds all my tools snipes ,6"level,c clamps(3) ,angle shaft and utility knife hope it holds up

This is a high quality leather pouch. It was a little larger than I was thinking for some reason but I wouldn't change the size. As noted by another review the hammer loop is large enough to carry your Roto Split. This is a huge plus for me when doing commercial work. I like how it's laid out and it curves a little around your leg / hip for comfortable carry. I use the very front small pouch to clip my Stanley Fat Max 25' tape or wire strippers. Even the chain that holds your electrical tape is higher quality than most. Right now I use an old 1 1/2 leather belt but may upgrade to something wider at a later time. The leather is thick as expected with Occidental Leather products. Right now I'm doing a lot of ladder work and this is nice to have. Saves you trips up and down. I would recommend this to any friend.

It is the worst pouch I have ever had and I will never buy it again, after 3 days of work it broke.for the price I expected better quality, Occidental leader has disappointed me

Wish pouch was a little deeper to fit my linesmens and side cutters, but overall good pouch that feels like it will last. Cant really go wrong with occidental

Spend the money, you won't be dissatisfied. Very well made and designed.

Pockets seem a bit small right now but might work in and be better. Haven’t used it much yet but I like it and it will wear in.
