I really like this program. But there are a few contradictions here and there that affect critical thinking progress. Example: see the photos - it says that the weather forecast is from the "last week" and then there is a question about a season. 1) Well, if it is from the last week, it depends on a month a kid is actually reading this book. 2) The answer key says that the season is winter. Ok. If there is literally no sun during winter (according to the text), why there is a sun on a forecast? It cannot be winter, right? On the other hand, they say that the summer is also not very warm. Can it be that cold? I don't know. But I know that it cannot be winter (read tet), and most likely it was spring because we were reading it in spring. My son also stuck. Yes, he scribbled "winter" only after I checked the answer key, but neither he nor I understand why the answer should be winter. Yes, I am that picky but it's my little genius critical way of thinking we are talking about. And I am all but encourage it.I hope they will revise the book and correct these contradictions.

Overall great book.
I purchased this book for my Kindergartener who is going to be in grade 1 in 3 months. This is great book to test your child’s logical thinking and correlation memory. Overall great book to do if you think your child is gifted.

Great supplement for gifted kids.
My kids love these books. We used this book to prep our kids before first grade while challenging them. We would do a page or two at a time over the summer and into the school year.We enjoyed the stories as well as the questions that were not just harder but required thinking in different ways.My gifted children often were thrown off by questions that required more thought than their normal school work.We use this as a supplement to their public schooling. Often, we work on these pages on car rides or in waiting rooms.

Great way to engage your child!
We were looking for some variation in the workbooks we were giving our daughter. She is studious and likes to read, write and make up her own stories. We purchased this for her when she was 6 and she is 7 now and still loves to work in the book. Although she is in first grade and does work at school, the material here is engaging enough that she wants to do 'extra' homework in it 2-3 times a week. I like the varied subject matter and the way the material challenges her.

One of my favorite comprehension books
I love this book! My older four year old completes it with a little help from me. The questions are challenging and really gets her to thinking. The stories, letters and reading activities are engaging and memorable. It is also in color, which helps. Once she completes this, we will move on to the 2nd Grade book.

Exactly what I was looking for
We have the math version, which I really really really love. My daughter loves the math and wanted the reading too. It is a good, more in depth workbook. I was able to walk my daughter through new concepts to keep her confidence going into 1st grade. thank you.

Perfect!
This is perfect for the child who may be ahead of grade level at reading but needs help in slowing down and absorbing the text. My 1st grader is a reading level M/N and I think the passages are a perfect level for enhancing comprehension.

Perfect
My daughter is in first grade and very ahead of her class. This is PERFECT for her. I love it. Looking forward to working in it with her this weekend. Not too hard, but perfectly what she needs to challenge herself

Excellent.
Great! My little boy was very pleased with this. Very educational, a fairly chunky book also, will take us ages to get through!
