These modules as shipped do not fully work

The YTX chips come with firmware that provides a serial interface supposedly allowing BLE to work properly. There is a problem. These BLE modules can be configured (via AT command set), broadcast and connect just fine. You can send them BLE data packets and see it come out of the module Rx port. However, you cannot send any user BLE data out of the module. If there is some special character sequence to make that happen, it is not documented. ENABLE line high or low does not matter. I have a full-blown BLE sniffer (using Nordic nRF 51 DK) that confirms this using 2 different modules. I was able to reprogram one of them but that is not what I bought.

These work as expected

These do what they are supposed to (accept firmware flashing and do what you tell them to) and have found homes in my custom electronics prototypes. Now, if only I could find better bundles for TI CC1101s.
