Smoke Alarm mains plus battery backup
Mains powered and was easy to fit (I was replacing a very old smoke alarm). Also has a battery included which powers the alarm in case your mains power goes off. Good quality product at a good price

Works but included batteries are dead
Works as designed. Batteries included are completely dead on arrival. Your sensor will beep because the batteries are dead. Best to buy new quality batteries and do a test before connecting, the alarm should sound loud as if it is connected to power. Ordered both smoke and heat alarms, batteries dead in both.

Exceptional Quality but Plan for Installation Gaps
I’m genuinely impressed with the FireAngel SW1 R mains powered smoke alarm. The build quality is exceptional and it performs significantly well, definitely a product you can trust to keep your home safe. That said, if you’re replacing an older smoke alarm from a different brand, be aware that this model may leave some gaps around the ceiling and could require replastering to get a neat finish. You can see this clearly in my photos. For another room, I discovered that the same company offers a standalone push fit base product. It’s much easier to secure, fills gaps left by older alarms, and makes removing the smoke alarm simpler than with the standard plate. It’s worth considering this option if you want a smoother installation. All that said, the SW1 R is a great product at a good price. It’s reliable, well made, and definitely does what it promises. Just make sure you consider the points above regarding installation, ceiling gaps, and alternatives, it will save you hassle in the long run.

Smart looking detectors that are easy to fit
Purchased 2 of these to replace my existing smoke detectors. Replacing the ceiling plate was easy as was the wiring which was identical to my old ones. Really loud alarm and easy to push and test.

Seems fine, but beware the wiring.
The advert doesnt show you about the wiring, so here goes: The item fits flush to the template with a twist motion, the template screws on your ceiling. There is no space within the back of the unit or the template for any wires, so you will need to cut a slightly larger hole in your ceiling and stuff it all up there. There is a terminal block supplied with 4 sections. Live Neutral, earth and link. The link is attached the to the next alarm in your house linked set. If you are replacing an old linked alarm, you will find 3 wires coming out the ceiling, the earth is not required as the item is completely plastic. There is a wire supplied which clips onto the fire alarm at one end and has a 4 way terminal block on the other end. So you clip on the wire to the device and then there's a wire about 6 inches long with terminal block on the end. The terminal block is quite big (looks like 1 amp), and doesn't easily fit into the hole in your ceiling, so you will need to either cut the block into 4 separate sections or make the hole in the ceiling big enough for the block (about 3 inches in diameter). Make sure there's enough space in your ceiling to stuff the remaining wires and terminal block. Also, make sure the hole you cut will be covered by the smoke alarm which fitted! Apart from the this, the rest is easy, just drill 2 holes for the template, connect up and Bob's your uncle. Remember to disconnect the electricity supply before starting. Luckily I had a separate fuse on my fuse box for smoke alarms, so this was easy. Oh, there is a battery in the unit (PP3) which is supplied and there in case the power is lost, but unfortunately this will run out after a few years and the unit will start beeping at you to replace, but alas this is regulations so you can't blame the smoke alarm for this.
