Boston's Gun Bible

A tome distilled from several dozen tomes
If you are involved in an aspect of arms ownership that is not completely relegated to target/hunting matters, then this is the book to give that person. One problem with defensive/offensive arms and their handling, is that the entire industry of munitions as available to the U.S. civilian is made of junk, useless junk, non functioning junk, and the occassional gem. While Boston may be able to tell you in one sentence why rifle XXX is way inferior ro rifle YYY, but in this book, first and foremost, he explains WHY one is inferior. Then the 'why' is placed in the context of the legal availability of certain weapons. And from that is distilled the cream. the cream being the best available to the civilian under current regulations. If these implements are going to be such that 'you would bet your life on them' only the cream will do. You get a little 'combat rifle history' which will make you understand the importance of proper control placement, and why a rifle was designed a certain way. While the book will not nail on the head the only things you should buy, what the book will do is allow you to eliminate 90% of what is not feasible and otherwise junk. The T&E of weaponry takes up the largest part of the book. There is also a large section concering handguns and handgun ammo. I thought rifle ammo was neglected. ALso the statement that 'SS109 5.56 is a major improvement over 55 graim ball' is now proven to be wrong by its performance in Afghanistan. You then have a section on sniper rifle choice. OUt of 300 available calibers you are honed down to perhaps 10. An artcile on .50 cals. .50 Cal ammo. Night vision, I actually learned the difference between various Gen. devices. Scopes. Really every conceivable piece of fighting gear is touched upon. That is why if you read this book, you will eliminate 90% of whats out there from your vision. There are philosophical sections on the warrior mentality, philosophy, shooting, these make entertaining reading. In all, there is no book like this, and it is worth every penny but it is not the end of knowledge, it is the beginning. In other words, even though you may have narrowed your search for a tactical scope down to 10 models, you must then fill in the rest of the picture about the 10 and how they work and then train, train, and train some more.I do have one caveat. The author is obviously and tremendously trained in almost all aspects of martial arts. Yes, shooting is a martial art too. However, to my knowlegde, and Boston makes no reference to it in anything I have read by him, that he has taken down an oppenent with karate, knife, etc., or had someone in his custody and 'under his gun', much less shot anyone or been shot at. Its not like I have either, but if Boston has one weakness, it is this. No practical combat experience. You might want to balance his book with other material by bona fide veterans, etc.

For the Awakening Patriot
For the Awakening PatriotThere are already so many informative reviews for this book which help the potential buyer that I wasn't sure if there was any need for yet another. Most likely, no there isn't, but I wanted to post one all the same. Growing up, I was never a "gun guy". I had always thought that guns were something "Cops and criminals had" and I never saw the need for them in my naive lifestyle. A friend of mine who was most certainly into guns and the 2nd Amendment had helped change my perception of firearms over the years and instructed me on the acquisition of my first few firearms. My perception of firearms very slowly continued to change. My view of the Constitution and what the 2nd Amendment really stood for also begun to change (for the better in my opinion).Another friend had encouraged me to read this book and I put it on my "to read list". After a period of procrastination, I finally ordered Boston T. Party's Gun Bible. From the very beginning Boston warned his readers, "If you have not first read '"Unintended Consequences"' and '"Send in the Waco Killers"', stop reading and read those first". I failed to heed his warning and continued unabated. I thought, wow, is this author for real? He seems quite extreme! His style of BOLD print, chapter organization with his numbering system and other items of irritation for me anyway were detractors from his work. However, I will say this: after reading from cover to cover, I had changed, was born anew, and a paradigm shift had occurred! I decided to heed his advise although it was a little on the late side and purchased the two recommended books, "Send in the Waco Killers" and "Unintended Consequences". Boston was absolutely right! Readers of this work are doing themselves a great disservice by not first reading these two volumes. The paradigm shift continued at an even greater rate! I now went back to reread Boston's work. In this context, his work is made much more clear, in fact, crystal clear. Boston's chosen pen name becomes even clearer than the first time reader is aware of. He is not simply writing a book, he is asking us patriots to rise from our slumber of inactivity. Like the age old saying, "Faith without works is dead". I would say this book is not like the Paine's "Common Sense", no, I'd say "Send in the Waco Killers" is more on the page of that. No, Boston's works is more along the lines of, "Ok, I've read "'Common Sense", now what?!?'" Now what? "Well son, here you go!"This book is a clear, concise step by step instruction manual for the Patriot. Is it filled with the author's biases? Yes. Does it have a non conformist writing style that many readers will notice, and some dislike? Yes. Is it written in a way that will "preach to the choir" and put off those not already inclined? Yes. These items are what would have me rate it a 4 1/2 stars. Since Amazon doesn't allow me the option, I choose to round up. The 2nd Amendment is not about hunting. It's about protecting all of our other Amendments! We've lost so many rights that I could not possibly go into them all here in a review about a book, but needless to say we are now in a Nation that freely violates many, if not nearly all of our rights. Just take the blatant violation of our 4th (air travel anyone?) and check points. Words like "The Greater Good" form a slippery slope and there are many of us who feel avid frustration with such Do Gooders. For those of us that wish to do something, for those of us that see the signs of things coming, for those of us that love and admire what the Constitution stands for, we have a means to more than just verbalization. We have the Amendments that the Founders gave us! We also have a "How To" manual in Boston's Gun Bible. For those on the fence, for those not sure, and for those thinking this book is too extreme, please: Do yourself the favor of acquiring the two books Boston encourages you to first read and then read this book.Only now am I beginning to understand what the Founders actually went through, what weighed on their minds and hearts. The Founders were a truly special breed of men. They gave up ever so much and fought for Liberty not even knowing if it could be done! They took on the world's greatest army and succeeded without a precedent for them to follow. They then gave us the tools for all of us to keep those liberties and we owe it to future generations to do the same. I have shared with many the information contained within these pages and encourage all who will listen to give this publication a read. I can not go back to my slumber. I can not wish myself back into my blissful state of ignorance. I am awake. I have heard the call of Liberty and I must answer. I hear my ancestor encouraging me to spread the word. Boston has done his job, will we do ours?R. Ben Clymer Jr.Descendant of George ClymerSigner of bothThe Declaration of Independence andThe Constitution of The United States of America

The Standard By Which To Judge All Other Gun Books
Boston's Gun Bible is the most comprehensive book on guns that I have ever seen. There are chapters on gun safety, gun laws, tactics and training, and on what to do after you have used a gun against an assailant. Boston breaks down the history of combat arms and then goes on to modern weapons. There are several chapters where he rates the best rifles out there today, giving their pro's and con's, so that you can make an informed decision on which one(s) would be best for you. Rifles aren't the only firearms he discusses. Handguns and shotguns are discussed in detail as well.Everything you need to know about guns, ammunition, and shooting accessories--short of what you would learn at the firing range through experience--Boston teaches you all in this one book. It's a great deal. This information is worth the book's weight in gold--and these days that's saying something. The last half of the book is focused on a responsible gun owner's relationship with society and government and is full of excellent advice. You'll be able to tell that the subject was well researched and that the author has plenty of experience. Put that to work for you. Everything is presented in a way that is easy to understand.Whether you have never fired a gun in your life or you're a seasoned pro, whether you are a man or a woman; this is THE book to buy if you want to know anything about guns and gun employment.I'm a marine scout sniper, and I learned a few things from it too. Also check out Boston's other books. They are all very good and quite informative.

Very interesting, very informative
US-centric (laws, calibre availability and most of all prices), obviously, but well worth a read wherever you are. Definitely recommended
