Not bad after I added more tension on spring
Its simple to open up and wind the spring to get more tension - before i did this the reel had about 10 inches of line that it would not suck into the reel - very aggravating - since working on small engines since forever.....its like a recoil starter just wind the spring more to get the tension where it needs to be to fully retract the line.other than that hiccup its nice cause it is automatic. does make some noise but go slow to minimize sound...WAY BETTER THAN THE LOOSE DAMN ROPE I WAS USING NOW THAT WAS A NIGHTMARE.

Compact and light
Bought for a kayak anchor, and it works for that, but the spring doesn't have enough tension to wrap 30 feet of line. My 30 foot rope dangles about 3 feet out and has very little tension until you get it totally pulled out. Size is perfect though.

good for bow
This works great for a bow. Getting close to capacity with rifle or shotgun. It will lift a gun but you are going to want to tie the karabiner on to bypass the crimp as my crimp failed and my bow and small pack hit the ground. I do plan to continue to use this bow hunting but am going to stick with the standard rope for gun..my 2 cents. I am glad I bought it but did only pay 10

Works but use caution
Works well, but be careful the clips are very cheaply made, I have replaced them after the first one broke and my pack went tumbling to the ground. The first one I bought both clips broke and string got lost inside unit, with no way to retrieve it, I did replace it, because it is a very convenient for climbers.

Good for average bow hunter
Great for getting your bow up into the stand and retracts nicely. The hoist itself is a little large but still does the job.

This item is great for putting in my climber pack but after a few usages it seems the role won't all spin back in.

Worth it
Works great just wish it had a auto retrieve on it. Used it for my crossbow and just pulled it up easy and let it down easy. Makes life a lot easier than having a whole bunch of extra cord hanging out

Functional but poorly made.
Use it today for the first time and will not retract all the way. I used it pull my bow up to my stand. I have to wrap the last foot around the reel. It works but since this is the first time, the quality is low.
