I love mine
I got this without reading the reviews and I gotta say my experience has not been what some people are reporting here. This is a very nice wire cutter with a nice design. The threaded end piece allows you to keep a very tight wire, which makes a better cut. I don't know how so many people are breaking these, but I imagine they are trying to cut through thick rind, which this isn't great for. However, this will do just fine on harder cheeses parmesan, pecorino, etc.. I just recommend using a knife to cut or remove the rind and use this for slicing.

DISSAPOINTING!
So disappointed, having gone through so many cheap plastic cheese slicers, I really thought this would actually last! The plastic ones last for around 6 months or so, but they always end up snapping in the middle where they seem inherently weak! So I thought this quality European brand would do the trick! NOT AT ALL! The wire broke on the 5th slice that I cut. The wire has never broken for me on the cheap ones, just the plastic handle! I was cutting a block of Edam, I'd consider it quite soft, this is Edam in New Zeland, its not like regular Edam with a hard outer, it's quite soft. What Osti must mean as soft cheese would be like Brie I assume!! I did buy 3 extra wires as I was shipping it to NZ, so I guess I have 15 more slices to cut. They will work out to be expensive slices!

The Best Cheese Slicer
Absolutely the best cheese slicer ever. I received my first cheese slicer like this for a wedding gift over 36 years ago from family in Denmark 🇩🇰 after many many years I had to replace it, was so happy to have found the exact style. This is perfect for block cheeses, looks elegant at a table setting, works perfectly on hard or soft cheeses. Makes a grand wedding or anniversary gift. Definitely the perfect little gift to yourself too.

I really like the design of this slicer
I really like the design of this slicer: being able to properly tension the wire is great, and it's a much more efficient (space saving) design than the standard slicer. I really wanted to like it. Sadly, as with others the wire broke, after about a month of daily use. I'm not sure I want to get in the habit of buying a dozen replacement wires a year. I'm thinking about buying a spool of stainless wire, and making my own replacements. If anyone is interested, the wire it comes with is 26 gauge (0.4mm), and the slots in the handle measure about 0.6mm...so 24 or 26 gauge wire should fit. I had some 28 gauge and tried that, but it's a little too thin. It boggles my mind...my parents still have a dollar-store aluminum cheese slicer that they bought probably 30 years ago, and it has a wire that has never broken.

Sturdy enough for my family
My family eats a lot (like a 5 lb. block a week A LOT!!) of cheese so we go through a lot of slicers. (Obviously, right?!) Most of the ones I find are plastic and don't last us very long then I saw this one and thought I'd give it a try. We haven't had it very long but so far I am loving it. It is very easy to use and simple to clean. And the best part is it seems so much sturdier than the others I've used in the past. Fingers crossed it lasts longer than all the others!🤞🤞

Very poor quality and customer service
I would not have given it any stars if that was an option. I bought 2 OSTI 822 cheese slicers. The first one broke about the 3rd use, and the second one broke on the first use. I was slicing a relatively soft cheddar cheese. I notified the manufacturer after the first one broke, and again when the second one broke. It has been 6 days since I first notified the company, and have had no response yet from them yet.

Value for money
Great product. Easy to slice hard cheeses with 2 different thicknesses. Value for money.

Nice at 1st
Was a very nice cheese slicer until the wire broke! Don't see anywhere I can get a replacement which is really kind of asinine seeing that the rest of the slicer is still in really good shape!

Terrible qualité, je suis très déçue ! Le couteau s'est cassé dès la 1re utilisation, j'ai juste voulu couper une tranche et l'elastique en acier a explosé d'un coté.

Just what I wanted as I have always used the Osti cheese slicer. My family is from Denmark and Holland and we had one at home. I saw this one on Amazon and had to have it. I like that it had the round stainless steel handle which was different than the red and white one I used to have.
