The Original I Ching: An Authentic Translation of the Book of Changes Hardcover – September 10, 2011

There are many versions to choose from. I was able to more clearly understand this version. Would reccomend.

When I sometimes teach the I Ching I recommend this as an authentic and accurate translation as one of three books I would choose for starting with the I Ching with an good translation - especially those who are put off by the choice of male in other translations.The Chinese Character translated as "man" has no gender in the Chinese language being translated. I simply use Superior Person in my presentations. (It's not that a translation that uses "man" was not accurate - especially in the early twentieth century. English, at the time, used "man" as in "mankind" as the "dictionary definition" of a gender neutral meaning. English is one of the languages that "forces gender choice.")Peason's comments includes commentary about Chinese history explaining some of the meanings in the context of the times in which it was written.

My mother introduced me to Iching in my teens and this book is exactly like the one she had.

If you're not familiar with the I Ching is a means of divining the future by asking one specific question at a time. By tossing the coins six times and rating each toss with a solid or broken line, the answers are then found in this book.

The book arrived in excellent condition and as described on the site for a slightly used book. I've never ordered a used book before and was pleasantly surprised. At first perusal, I find the book to be very useful in furtherIng my study of Eastern Philosophy. Having been disconcerted over interpretations that can often denigrate the feminine aspect, finding a more direct translation without years of accretion coloring the original intent is enlightening. Cudos to Pearson for her work.

The best translation ever. Easy to follow and thus not too hard to accomplish.

Have not had this hardback long... The quality of the book is very good and in like new condition... But I must say that the 6 lines commentary of the 64 hexagrams is simply not worthy.... it as though the commentary on each hexagram as a whole was taken seriously, but the lines commentary were a last minute afterthought ...
