A Near Perfect Doctor Octopus
This is the big one, the one we've been waiting for. Doctor Octopus hasn't had a Marvel Legends figure since 2004 in wave 8. To put that in perspective that was before ML figures even had Build-a-Figure parts! It's been 14 years. This isn't counting outside lines like Spider-Man classics or movie figures, of course. That same ML Ock was rereleased in Ultimate colors in the Spider-Man Origins line but that was like in 2006. Still 12 years ago. Also no, Superior Spider-Man doesn't count either. We've been NEEDING a new one, especially since the old one fetches very high prices on the aftermarket. Hasbro has finally delivered and you can't help but ask, "is it any good?" The short answer is yes, the long answer is...Sculpt:The sculpt wonderfully captures that classic Doctor Octopus look. Ock isn't what you'd call physically fit so he needed a new body mold to capture his out of shape body. This new mold does exactly that and it does perfectly. The original ToyBiz Ock seems absolutely PUNY compared to this new figure. Not only is he fatter, he's also far taller. This comes with ML's scale creep in time but rest assured he still stands shorter than your average Hasbro ML, as he should. His angry wide face perfectly captures Ock's ugly mug and he even has eyes sculpted under those sunglasses! This is usually the case but it's always nice to see. Only real complaints with the sculpt comes with his accessories. The Tentacles:These deserve their own section. The tentacles are molded in a metallic blue that looks very eye appealing. They make the tentacles on the old ML Ock seem downright drab by comparison. However unlike those old tentacles these have no bendy wires and the pincers have no articulation outside of a balljoint at the tip of the tentacles. This has it's fair share of benefits and problems. The benefit is that the tentacles are infinitely more sturdy as a result. No longer will you fear breaking the wires in the tentacles if you bend it too often or too far. However this means they're pretty much prepositioned and can't support a lot of weight. The pincer prongs not being articulated means he can't quite get a tight grip on another figure. With some posing you can make it work. By far the biggest issue is how they're preposed. The smaller tentacles are in a fine position but the longer tentacles are in such an awkward position. I'm not sure why Hasbro thought having tentacles that go OUTWARD was a great idea. Again this makes getting a figure in his grasp hard but still possible. I feel a simple swivel or two in the tentacles could've been beneficial and it would've mitigated this altogether. They can be easily swapped out between all four ports which is nice, however and helps with this issue. Even if this in mind I wouldn't call the tentacles bad or even underwhelming. I was surprised at how many poses I could get out of them. You just need to work with them and get creative.Articulation:For a short fat guy Doc Ock can move! All of the requisite Marvel Legends articulation is there. You know the drill. Of note is how far his legs can spread out and that wonderful ab joint. Not only does it crunch forward and back a good amount, it also swivels around and has great side to side pivot. Normally these joints seem fishy on any domestic figre (see the entirety of Star Wars the Black Series for what I'm talking about) but this works wonders with how much range it has. Get used to using this joint, you'll need it to help get those tentacles to look juuuuuuuust right. No complaints here either. If I had one complaint it's that he could use more upward range in the ankles.Paint:As a $20 mass market figure paint is fine but imperfect. Obviously there's some paint spillage where the green meets the yellow sometimes and there's a really noticeable yellow paint streak on his butt of all places. That's it in terms of real complaints, however. Also yes, his eyes are painted under the sunglasses. There's nothing remarkable but nothing detestable here outside of that paint streak. He's painted as Octavius should be.Overall:This is an amazing figure. In spite of those flaws we FINALLY have a worthy Doctor Octopus. If you collect Spider-Man Marvel Legends this figure is a MUST for your collection. Ock is necessary to any decent rogues gallery.Sidenote but I love how we finally have good modern figures of Spider-Man's three arch-enemies (Green Goblin, Ock, and Venom) at long last. Man oh man do they look great together too. This has been something I've been wanting out of ML since it was rebranded as the ML Infinite Series back in 2014 and we've got it!Get this if you see it at retail. If not then the current going price online ($25-$30) is well worth it too. I'm sure you won't regret it.

A great figure.
This, in my opinion, is a solid Doc Ock figure. Love the more comic look and how stout and portly he looks. The downside is as everyone else says: the tentacles lack any poseability. No bendable wire makes it difficult to achieve a desired display pose for this figure. But if you try hard enough, you are able to get a pose that might be to your liking. Overall, a must get for collectors and children alike.

A classic comic Doc Ock,finally
I love this figure simply because i like the comic book look figures. This figure looks great, nice colors and all. Really nice. The only drawback about it is you cant pose the robot arms too well. You cant bend them up or anything. But they look so very good and stay in place really well. I have mine on my shelf and i was so very happy to get one. Great addition to any Marvel Legends collection, especially if you have Spider-Man

Amazing classic, wish robot arms were more posable
Amazing Doc Ock... love his face behind his sunglasses; the eyes are a great touch. Paint is really nice. Classic, just like I remember from boyhood. Only downside is the octopus arms aren’t as posable as I’d hope. Two of each types of pose and you can move them around on his back. Back pegs don’t feel super sturdy, but haven’t fallen out yet. No regrets, though. Glad I got him.

Top tier Legends release
No question whatsoever, this Doc Ock is going to go down as one of the finest Marvel Legends of this era. The dedicated sculpt is perfect for him, with a squat and stocky physique and plenty of wrinkle detail in the clothing. The paint is on-point with near perfect application of the mustard yellow trim over a base green. The face is wonderfully menacing and fitting for Spider-Man's greatest villain, as a neutral face just would not do.The elephant in the room with this figure is the metal arms. A lot of people wanted a lot of different things. Many wanted bendy wires, some wanted various swappable static poses, some got exactly what they wanted as-is. I fall into that last camp. I don't really care for bendy wire accessories and feel that there's too much compromise in them, so what we got hits the perfect note for me. Maybe we could have gotten swappable clawed hands in various poses, but with the amount spent on tooling up Ock's body I think that that is kind of unrealistic at this price point.End of the day, if you see this figure hovering around retail price, BUY IT. Don't hesitate. Ock is a good contender for Hasbro to include in the retro waves, but with sales of those figures being what they are I wouldn't bank on that line lasting forever and getting to him.

The real Doc Oct.
Purchased for my grandson's birthday. He will be 7 in August. He is a big Marvel fan. Got into Legends this past year. I like the comic version and so does he. I'm glad I found it for a great price. Everything looks good in this toy i.e. color, character and all pieces with it.

Very excellent!
This is an extremely good example of a classic design on a modern figure. Notice that there is not a BAF part in the box. These will be in short supply and high demand for fans a collectors. Get one while you can, if you want one. Paints are okay. Doc Oc has blue eyes underneath his glasses. This one will certainly appreciate in value over time.

Doc Ock Review
I like the idea that I was able to purchase it for a better price, and it did not take long to receive it.
