Essential Defense Mineral Shield Sunscreen SPF 35

After a lot (lot, lot, lottttt) of time spent searching through reviews and articles, I finally took the plunge and ordered a bottle of this sunscreen. I've recently developed hyperpigmentation (due to heat/light/allergy inflammation+hormonal changes) and need to wear daily, indoor light protection. However, I have never, ever had any luck with sunscreens, physical formulations least of all; they irritate my skin, cause rashy breakouts, and usually itch like crazy. But not this one! I'm so pleased with it that I'm actually writing this review. I've been using it AM daily for almost 2 weeks (face, neck, upper chest, shoulders) and have not had a single rash or bout of itchiness; no redness irritation either! It goes on like a lightweight lotion, rubs in easily without pulling, and does not leave a white ghost mask (note, I do have a fair complexion, but other sunscreens in my past have left me looking positively bloodless and encased while this one leaves my skin looking/feeling like human skin). Only two tiny cons, it would be nice if the SPF was higher for wearing outdoors, and, I am a wee bit skeptical of cost point vs. amount of product. However, it has performed exactly as advertised, and another reviewer mentioned her bottle lasted 4 months, so, I think the cost may turn out to be well worth it in the long run. Overall, very happy so far!

As a woman in my mid-30s with sensitive, acne-prone skin, finding the right sunscreen has been a challenge. I’ve tried everything—Korean sunscreens, drugstore brands, and all the hyped-up medical-grade SPFs recommended by TikTok influencers. But SkinMedica Mineral SPF 35 Non-Tinted is truly a hidden gem. This mineral sunscreen somehow manages to leave no white cast, which is amazing! It’s not greasy, has no smell, and feels like you’re not even wearing sunscreen. I actually prefer the non-tinted version over the tinted one. It’s become my ride-or-die sunscreen, and I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it. If you have sensitive, acne-prone skin and are struggling to find the perfect sunscreen, definitely give this one a try. It’s been a game-changer for me!

The expiry date will be Sept-2020, the shipment was quick. I had bought Skinmedica mineral SPF 32 Tinted last month, and now this one Mineral SPF 35 untinted for my sister. Both are very light weight, I don’t have problem to wear them. My skin type is mature, sensitive, and dry with combination at T-zone.

This is my second bottle. I love that this is super easy to apply and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin from eczema. My friend whose skin is usually no tolerant to other sunscreen finds this one not irritating either. Gives me the adequate regular coverage too. It gives a white cast initially but eventually fade away after just a few minutes. I use it to replace foundation sometimes just because it makes my face less dull. Easy to wash off too. Doesn’t feel greasy or anything. Highly recommend.
