What is the weight of the glass alone, without any packaging?

About 1 1/2 pounds. It’s sturdy. I don’t hold it when I paint, I place it over the drawer of my easel and it’s working out great.

can the glass be removed from the box for cleaning?

Yes it can and it also has an option for a plastic palette that come in white, if you wanted to replace the glass one. I actually bought all three sizes and am extremely satisfied with their product. Customer service is top notch imo
