Don't Compress
Loft insulation works by trapping air so it must not be compressed yet the recommended depth of insulation is 270mm (Energy Savings Trust). Loft storage needs to be supported on flooring boards raised above the insulation. Loft Lifters attach to roof joists/trusses elevating floor boards creating required space for insulation to perform as expected.

Adjust for Stability
Fully adjustable: Each leg is made of two parts one threaded into the other allowing a twist in either direction to raise or lower the height of the legs (from approx 188mm to 208mm).
Leg adjustments ensure a perfectly level floor - no wobbles, no movement, just a stable secure and safe platform.
Height of rough timber roof joists varies considerably - they were never intended to support a level floor.
Fix LoftLifters to trusses with one screw per leg (recommended 5mm X 40mm screws).
Further height reduction can be made by cutting legs with hacksaw at one of 3 notches at 25mm intervals by 25mm, 50mm or 75mm.

How many legs?
Typical scenarios with 400mm separated joists:
A. 'long rectangle' area: 1 box 1.44m2, 2 boxes 3.6m2, 3 boxes 5.8m2, 4 boxes 8m2,...9 boxes 19m2
B. 'square' area: 1 box 1.44m2, 2 boxes 3.6m2, 3 boxes 5.8m2, 4 boxes 9m2,...9 boxes 22m2

Distance between ceiling joists/trusses is 400mm, or 600mm for older homes.
For 600mm separated joists, the covered area will be approx 50% greater.
Standard loft board (flooring board) is 1200mm x 330mm and requires support every 600mm.
