I first purchased the e-book of this manual but found it very hard to use. So I ordered the printed book and that it what I recommend to others.I have spent several hours with the book and find that it does the job. The explanations and directions are clear. The organization of the book is logical. The result of using it is a fast and successful implementation.One weakness of the book is that it doesn't tell what can't be done with OpenCart. I know this because I want to do a few relatively minor things that are not mentioned in the text. I don't know if that's because I'm looking in the wrong place for the information, or if the edits I want to make require coding skill (i.e. advanced users), or if the configuration just can't be edited the way I want.But that's quibble. The book is good.

The book "OpenCart 1.5 User Manual" is the most complete and up-to-date manual for OpenCart that I have found. The layout is clean and precise, the examples are meaningful and it does not contain a lot of extraneous fluff. The book is in a large 8x10 format with lay-flat binding. Have not found any errors or typos to date, clean editing.Although this is designed for "beginners" I have already found answers to several problems that I was having with OpenCart. The content stops short of actual PHP code, so there is not much in the way of theme design or updates, but as a user manual this is a very good choice.

A quite good manual for those who is first time using an eCommerce template. But this manual is lack of some in depth discussion for some topics. For example, the default setting in the OpenCart Shipping option is for all 240 countries, obviously a lot of people need this manual will be shipping to only a few of them or even just within the United States. Of cause you can always Google it yourself to find a way to reset it or to find someone do it for you for a fee.Will recommend this book for most people.

This is not a professionally typeset and printed book. The pages look like they came out of an old laser printer with some areas coming out black and others streaked with grey. The illustrations are low resolution- they may look fine on a screen but they are not print quality. The contents of the book are OK but anyone who has used a computer before will find most of it obvious and redundant. If you are a computer person interested in OpenCart this book is a complete waste of money. It is not a comprehensive user's guide as the title would lead you to believe- it is merely a watered down introduction for rank beginners. If you have your own retail store and don't know anything about computers you might find this book helpful. The book was not helpful with some simple questions like "how do I turn off the wish list feature?" A wishlist is fine for retail customers but it is unprofessional on site for an industrial supplier. This book mentions "wishlist" in the index but the page it refers to just says "new in version 1.5 is the wishlist". Not useful.This is not an O'Reilly book.

I am in the process of starting a new eCommerce website. After researching all the latest Open Source eCommerce options currently on the market I became very interested in the Open Cart package. Open Cart appears to offer me all that I am looking for for my online shop, so I was looking for an informative guide to assist me in setting up my store with the minimum of problems. Thankfully in my searching I came across this up-to-date guide which explains the processes in very accessible terms. Initially I found details of the book on OSCmanuals.com, and from there decided to purchase the book through Amazon. The guides are very easy to follow and I am feeling a whole lot more confident about setting up my online store now. Many thanks for such a good guide!

This is a good book for familiarizing yourself with the Open Cart features and uses. However for the developer it will not be of particular use. But it was not intended for developers. If all you want is to install and set up a store using default features and modules it will do the job nicely.

Overall I am very impressed by this guide. It covers everything required to install, configure and administer your OpenCart store in an easy to use format. There are also numerous hints and tips that should be of benefit to both new and more experienced users.Some of the content is specific to U.S. implementations, e.g. PayPal configuration, but this is not a big enough issue to downgrade the rating.I am sure that this guide will continue to be invaluable to me once our online store has been launched.

I like this guide, but I think the layout could be a lot more intuitive. I find myself skipping all around the book to find what I need. I thought it would have a more step-by-step approach. Overall, it seems to be the best resource out there, but I think it could be better written.

I was a apprehensive about buying this book. As there are plenty of video/youtube type tutorials to help with Opencart stuff. These are always helpful and I will continue to use them.But I need not have worried - This is a great book and I have learnt loads from it already. Its well laid out and contains very useful stuff. The diagrams are very big relevant.And the advice is great and very sensible.This is a great book and will help you loads!

This is definitely a must-have book for anyone looking to set-up an online store running OpenCart. It covers everything you need to get started without and presents it in a clear and easy to digest format with plenty of diagrams, screenshots, etc.

The OC 1.5 User Manual really saved my day. I was among many things wondering how to change font colour and size. And there it was. Descibed and with an example .I found the manual very easy to read and search. There are pictures and examples how to do and fill in the different fields. I would say the manual is almost a must for both amateurs and pros.
