2 year update. I love it Spends more time on the wall charging than on the floors cleaning
2 year update: I love this vacuum. I recommend it to my family, because of the fact that there’s no cord and so many attachments. I have a small house, maybe 1100 sq ft, I’m not sure but it’s small. I say this because, the battery is not reliable. Sometimes I can charge it and it will last me through two rooms, and sometimes, it last the whole house. After 2 years, I have learned that this vacuum should be used in steps- based on the accessories. The long vacuum part should be used for carpets The long skinny one for cracks and crevices The small long rectangle one is for furniture, but I like to use it if my daughter crunches cheese it’s in the floor, it’s great for messes in carpet. Would also be good for deep cleaning, but the battery wouldn’t last. I don’t use the one with the extendable brush, it’s small, I would think it’s good for dusting? But I can’t find a good use for it. Lamp shades, maybe? The battery lasts different depending on which accessory you use, so the long vacuum doesn’t usually last through my whole house, I guess because it powers both the top and bottom of the vacuum. The long skinny crevice one, it lasts a while! Overall, I’d buy it again in a heartbeat, but not if I had a big house, you would want multiple. But if you can afford that, I’d have one on every floor. Original review below Very durable, very convenient... not very powerful, and the battery life is sooo bad. I read the reviews before buying this, I mean it is an expensive a$$ vacuum, so I knew that the battery life wasn’t anything to write home about, but seeing as I live in a 1000sqft house, I didn’t think I would have to worry about it. Wrong. I never get through the house without it dying and when it does die, it’s sudden. No warnings, just... dead. Also it’s important to know that when it stops running, sometimes it’s not dead, it’s just clogged. There is a switch to change it from high powered to normal power so that could help the battery life. And you don’t just turn it on and go, you have to pull the trigger the entire time. For the money I spent on this I would’ve bought an off brand, higher powered, more practical vacuum that I wouldn’t have cared had it only lasted a year. I’m stuck with this dyson now, but I’m not thrilled about it. Please let me know if you found this review helpful!

BEST VACUUM
Update: one year later I still love this vacuum!!! It is still in perfect condition. So easy to use, especially under the beds and corners. I bought this months ago and waited to write a review because I wanted to get good use of it first. It is the best vacuum for pet owners!! We have tile and carpet. Vacuum has 2 settings for suction power. My tile: I use the lower setting and it picks up everything from fur to pine pellets. It is so easy to maneuver around corners and tight spots. It took me a few tries to get the hang of it though because I wasn't used to having a vacuum that swivels. Carpet: I use the lower setting and it picks up so much!! We have 4 cats 3 are med to long hair so we have a lot of fur. It does great! Now, I still use a corded vacuum twice a month because corded will have more suction power. The second setting with the stronger suction is GREAT! It really gets stuff out, but it drains the battery too quickly. I use this setting to vacuum under the beds. It lays almost flat and I can get all the way past the middle so the whole area gets clean. (My bulky corded vacuum can't reach under beds) Furniture: Excellent!!! It comes with accessories and I haven't used them all yet but the brush attachment for couches/chairs is perfect. I'd say it gets about 98% of the fur off the couch if not 100%. It has been a game changer for us in dealing with the fur. Our home is 2000 square feet and I can vacuum the whole house in one charge on the low setting. It is definitely worth the money I paid. Durability: I have banged this thing so much getting under the kitchen table and in closets, but it still works like new. It is an amazing vacuum. It makes me happy emptying that canister full of fur, dust, and whatever else it picked up from our floors.

I actually love to vacuum, now.
I have had this vacuum for about 2 months now and I've probably vacuumed the entire apartment 50 times already. I share a 3 bedroom apartment with my brother and our cat, so I can't really speak for large families with multiple dogs or anything like that. It picks up dirt, crumbs and cat hair like an absolute champ. The fact that it is cordless and all the weight is at the handle makes it very easy to maneuver, and doesn't make my arm sore after extended use. The battery only lasts for about 2 minutes on high power, but I haven't found a situation yet that required that setting. The normal power setting which is what is meant to be used for general vacuuming, always lasts plenty long. I got about 2½ full vacuum jobs done before it died and I realized the power strip I had it plugged into was turned off. The small "head" allows me to get under really low things like the little stand my desktop computer rests on, and the back of the couch. I had a Bissell that cost $40 more than this Dyson and it was bulky, heavy, and so loud that when we moved from a house to this apartment, I never wanted to vacuum because the noise level had me cringing no matter the time of day. The Dyson V7 is so quiet I can vacuum directly outside my brother's bedroom while he's asleep and he has no idea. It's very simple to empty, and even using it every other day (or every day sometimes) it always manages to pick up a good load of dirt, dust and cat hair which helps with air quality in addition to keeping our carpet looking nice. Go for it.

Viva La Dyson!
Based on my rating I have obviously come to praise the V7 rather than bury it. I gave it 6 moths before I wrote this, but I love it. LOVE IT! It is so very light and convenient and picks up a lot of hair from my border collie and min pin. What I really like is that you can get underneath furniture with it, you have to bend down a bit, but that is where a lot dust and hairballs gather. I like that the main attachment head swivels so you can get into corners pretty well. Now the battery does not last a very long time, we have a 1200 sq ft house and I almost get to the end one charge. BUT, I usually use the high suction. Using the lower suction does prolong the battery, and it works well, but I like the high suction. So what if you have to charge before you finish, take a break with your favorite beverage and celebrate your genius in buying this while it charges back up! The other complaint I read is that you have to keep the on button pressed while is use. Come on you weaklings, I actually prefer it that way as you can stop it with the trigger release rather than pressing a button off and on. So you save battery life too, you are welcome. And the attachments are great too, especially for indulgent parents who let their dogs on the sofa and get hair on it. I love that it hangs up neatly in our laundry space, to charge and ready to go. There are not too many things that work this well in this life, highly recommend.

a housekeeper’s best friend. makes life easier!
my cordfree/handheld dyson is my very favorite household help. we have hard floors throughout our home and the dyson has been revolutionary in my day to day routine. pre-dyson, i swept, dust-panned and mopped multiple times a day. those of you dyson fans out there can likely imagine how much BETTER everything is with one of these. ++ i can’t say often enough how AWESOME the cordlessness is. ++ the battery life is sufficient on the regular setting for a brisk vacuum tour of our main floor + stairs. ++ it is lightweight enough even for my four year old to wield on floors and stairs and for myself vacuum dusting the wooodwork above my head. ++ quality seems great, plastic is pretty durable. i’ve only had mine for two months and it’s held up under pretty heavy usage. however, that is why i’m here leaving a review. we’ve only had this blessed machine for two months and an important piece broke from the main motor head (it emits an ear piercing and gut wrenching scream if i try to use it without...sad). it’s the piece (see photos) that probably protects the motor shaft under the brush (the close up shows the end of the motor it was covering when it broke), as well as stabilizes the brush from banging into the motor and appears to be the part that gives a kind of spring action when removing the brush for cleaning (no longer springs after broken). it seems strange to me that it’s made of plastic because of its location and function and that it’d be a potentially common problem. the customer service lady i spoke with said she’d never heard of that happening. who knows? my only con: it does seem to have become less effective in picking up (even small stuff) from bare floors over time. i don’t know if that could be related to the broken/breaking part. i have not yet cleaned/changed the filter. when the roller brush has a moderate amount of hair it seems to function less efficiently, but i didn’t have much chance to experiment or confirm that theory because i found it broken this time when i removing the hair from the roller brush. because my unit is so new, customer service is sending me a new attachment, which i am SUPER grateful for. it could take up to 2 weeks for it to arrive though, so i’ll be mourning and missing it until then. i write this review not to dissuade you from buying a dyson. but because it is info i would have wanted to know. i don’t know if this is an issue with different or newer models. the customer service at dyson is very helpful and if you are concerned i’d call to ask them those questions.

Utterly useless, waste of time and money!
I had such high hopes for this cordless Dyson (based on my loyal experiences using their corded vacuums for years), but ever since the first use this cordless Dyson has been utterly useless. After each full charge, the vacuum only works for a few seconds before it shuts down. Sometimes it’ll last a minute or two if I’m lucky. For this price I would expect to at least complete one room, but no. I have to run back to the charger, plug it in, wait a few seconds, then go again. Do this three or four times (a total of about 5 minutes of actual vacuum time) and then the battery dies. Admittedly that’s on “Max Power”, but the standard power setting is like a limp breeze. Either way, I would expect to be able to vacuum for more than a few seconds at a time and simply put, this product has great marketing but woefully under delivers in reality. I then made the mistake of living with it and trying to trouble shoot the issues with customer service. I replaced the filters (even though I wash them regularly), I even tried ordering a new battery, still wanting to believe in the Dyson brand. The battery arrived and I had to go out and buy a tiny screwdriver in order to install it. When I finally got around to it, no improvement! When I asked to return the battery they said it was already 31 days since it was shipped so “sorry, no returns”! The Dyson call center has been closed and/or understaffed throughout the pandemic, but when I finally chat with someone online they said my return window for the vacuum is now closed - shame on me for trying to fix the issues and wasting that time when I should’ve just given up and returned it immediately. Take my advice, if you have purchased this product, return it ASAP/before you try to fix it or troubleshoot it yourself/before your return window expires. If your thinking of buying it, don’t bother! This review is my Dyson obituary - I will now enjoy watching this vacuum get tossed into the recycling, taking solace in the knowledge that somewhere, somehow, this Dyson might get recycled into a poop-a-scoop.

Best Vacuum I have!
Just buy it! It is worth every penny. I purchased three of them one for myself and the other two for my daughters in law. We all have dogs, and vacuuming daily is a must! I own Sharks, Mieles, and this cordless is by far my favorite! The suction has two settings and is perfect for hardwood floors and carpets. It is light enough to use on my staircase which has always been a pain. The quality is what you would expect from a Dyson, excellent! It was so easy to put together, and fits perfectly in the corner of my kitchen where I see it every day and just keep cleaning!

I would never use a regular vacuum again.
This thing is a blessing, cleaning on carpet has never been easier. The vaccuum is so light, so easy to use, it’s worth every penny. Not having to drag a cord around behind you saves you a huge headache. It can pick up small and big pieces, and thoroughly collects dust, cat hair, human hair and crumbs. The compartment you need to empty is extremely easy to use, you pull the red tab and the bottom unclasps. I usually do this above a garbage. Built very thoughtfully. Suction is great, two modes, Max and regular !

Great Machine
Fitted V7 to my bedroom wall, and used extensively over the past few weeks since purchase. Have used with attachments for cobwebs etc... on ceilings, and excellent for the carpets and the super suction is fantastic. Also I have a V7 for downstairs which I purchased about 2 years ago and this also has been perfect. Great for cleaning stairs using attachments. Thanks
