Texas Gulf Coast Paperback – February 25, 2009

The information in this book is excellent, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in fly fishing the Texas Gulf Coast. That said, DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE EDITION. The Kindle edition of this book does not contian the maps promised by the description. I contacted the publisher about this omission, and they said that Amazon's conversion process excludes the maps from the final product. He said they have complained but the problem persists. He recommended the Google books edition, as it does contain the maps. I understand that digital conversion of these sorts of titles is not perfect, but I find it very frustrating when what is promised by the description is not delivered.Again, I very highly recommend this book, but buy the paper or alternative digital version until Amazon starts providing maps with the kindle edition.

The format of this book is great since it addresses the coast line by regions. Plenty of information to zero in on your fishing location. It also addresses light tackle fishing, bait and game fish identification and more. A real plus in the coastal flyfishing arsenal! I would recommend this book to any fishing the Texas Gulf Coast period.

Excellent guide for covering texas lakes and rivers

An ok general travel guide that tells you a very little about the bays. Some only get a sentence or two. Hardly useful for planning a trip. Very little information on fly fishing at all. A couple of pages at the end indicate that clousers, deceivers, and a handful of other patterns are useful, but that's it. No photos, no discussion of local patterns, not even a review of equipment. This book could have been written by almost anybody who's fished the Texas coast and owns a map. Ray Crawford's books are much better and infinitely more useful.

Excellent resource, good descriptions, with decent local knowledge covering a vast territory! Difficult to do on your own. Does need an update with new fly shops and could use a food review.
