How do you open the jar

The black part is actually the "lid', so turn jar upside down, and unscrew the black part (counter clockwise)...and slid into the side of the lid, you'll see an extra part with ridges on it.... that's the handle of the applicator brush... a clever little brush that slides into the "lid" for safe-keeping. Be precise sliding the brush back in, or it's possible to bend the bristles. I found it a bit confusing too at first. The small, double ended makeup sponges work pretty good as applicators, also... but of course won't fit into the little hideaway place in the lid. Nice Product, and great colors!
