Great family game for the summer!
This game is so much fun. I remember playing this when I was a kid. The quality is good and the size is perfect. It come with a traveling pouch so it's easy to carry. The design is nice and the price is reasonable.

after my disappointment in the product the company contacted me. They notified their producer of the issues my items had so they could correct them in the future. They also offered me a replacement or a refund. I was quite impressed as customer service is lacking nowadays. Since they are willing to notify producers of problems and get it corrected for the future and then offer me a replacement/refund this company stands behind their product. I would certainly buy other products from this company since they work so hard to ensure people are happy and that their products are free from defects. I bought this for travel play. But once we put it together found out the wood is not that great of quality. Our set is light weight wood and it is not going to last. lots of wood splinters on the heads before screwing into the pole. One mallet head came off during play and if we twist too much you can tell it will just break. wanted easy travel but now two of the mallet heads won't come off so they won't fit back into bag. so not really easy now for travel as I have to take bag and two mallets. quality is not that great for the price. very disappointed.

Decent croquet set. Useless carry case/bag.
General product quality is acceptable. However, once you securely screw the handles into the mallet heads, I really don't want to have to take them back off to get them into the carry bag. But that's what you must do if you want to use the carry bag. Just few inches larger dimensions on the bag would make it considerably more convenient.

Perfect for the price
Most reviews that I read previous to buying this item mentioned problems with the carrying bag and putting the mallets back into it. I ignored this completely because I would probably never go traveling with a croquet set. It was always meant for me at my home only, and I would be storing the carrying bag in a closet for probably many years. When it arrived, I set it up in the backyard, and my wife who had never played before agreed to play a game. I grew up on croquet, and my last game was exactly 60 years ago, give or take a year. We played an entire game, and I won. I had the chance to maul her in the beginning, and it worked off of my foot the same way it did 60 years ago. The balls are not wood but some kind of medium lightweight plastic that is pretty close to the real wood ball. The mallets (6 of them) are wood and worked just like the ones I used 60 years ago. The wickets are solid metal and work fine, all 9 of them. (If you lose one, they are easily fabricated with a coat hanger, or some other wire like bailing wire or electric fence wire.) The two posts are solid wood and hammered easily into the dirt. The sets I looked at and read reviews of were priced between $29 and $145. The one I bought costed me $42. The higher-end priced ones did not seem to have anything more to offer than the lower-end ones. There are plenty of sets out there for sale for anyone to explore and do research on. My buying strategy has pretty much been to get the best product for the lowest price -- pretty basic stuff. I don't know what those $145 sets have that are better than the one I bought for $42, but I really have a feeling that paying 3.2 times what I paid is not going to get anyone a better product. There could be many more sellers out there in the $30 - $40 range that have just as good a product. I just don't know. However, I do know that this croquet set is exactly what I hoped it would be.

Family and Friends will enjoy
All the pieces have been durable over the outdoor game season. Easy to set up and bag makes it easy to clean up and take anywhere. Size of mallets good for school age children and grownups.

Not what I hoped for...
The plastic ends came apart after the first few games. One shaft cracked. I was disappointed with the quality of the product.

Fun for the grandkids
Bought to use during ‘Cousin Week.’ The grandkids enjoyed the game and got it out again during Thanksgiving. Good quality.

For the price of the set it was disappointing to see the finishing on the mallets. Looks like they were given one coat of paint that was put on sloppy. One of the mallets have a knot in the handle which seems to be starting to pop out after first use. The balls are obviously two separate pieces of wood being held together with a plastic covering and I'm not sure how long they will last. Other than that we've played a couple of games and had fun. Bought this new set to replace another set we purchased 25 years ago, although it's still usable the mallet covers on some of the clubs are either gone or going. If we could just buy the covers we would have done so.

I ordered this just before winter but waited until spring to open it, too late for returns. The wickets are thin clothes hanger wire and bend easily. The balls and end stakes are adequate but one of the 6 mallets is so poorly made that the head and handle do not stay screwed together at all and thus cannot be used.
