This manufacturer-approved lid switch (part number WH12X10333) is for washers. Lid switch WH12X10333 detects if the washer lid is open or closed and prevents the washer from spinning and agitating when the lid is open. Unplug the washer before installing this part. Wear work gloves to protect your hands. Review: Worked like a charm. Easy to install. Note. I believe two of the wires are for the "Lid" light indicator and the other two wires are for the actual sensor. Most of these sensors are 2 wires, just because they only control the actual sensory for the washing machine. I cut two and wired them all together to finish the load we were on and it worked just fine. Not recommended, as it could be dangerous to bypass the safety sensors. Review: As can be seen in the photos, the lid switch assembly attaches with a 4 wire connector. It is held in place by a single Phillips head screw and the snap-in cover under the lid. Inside the housing are two micro-switches, which are pulled upward when the lid-mounted magnet (not included) is in close proximity. The wires are color coded, with the white-orange and orange wires going to one switch, and the white-red and red wire going to the other switch. The orange pair of wires switch 10 VDC to the control board, while the red pair of wires switch 120 VAC to the motor control board. While it is possible to change the individual micro-switches within the housing, I wouldn't recommend it - the switch has to be opened to re-install the magnetic lever and it can be tedious for the non-skilled (list price $1 to $5 each plus shipping from various sources). These lid switches are easy to test with an ohm meter or continuity light. It is possible to jumper the switches out for testing, but please remember, this is a safety device. To prevent jumpered switch wires from becoming a "permanent" repair, the controls will lock-out the agitate and spin cycles after 4 wash cycles without detecting the lid opening (7 LED flashes on the motor control board). Overall, the switch is relatively easy to replace - less than 5 minutes if you already know how to disassemble and reassemble the washer. I'm all too familiar with mine.
