Q: Is this suitable for non-leather shoes, like attaching rubber soles to fabric or plastic?

I'm not a cobbler but I've used it on a mix of surfaces, wood to wood, leather to leather, leather to rubber and it does very well. the key is to get two even coats on both sides, let it go tacky until you can touch it and its tacky but almost dry then join the two surfaces for an instant bond. don't use the useless brush it comes with you a hard edge of a credit card to ensure coverage

No metal too heavy and it is a temporary fix.

I would say it does dry clear. I used it to stock a length of piping back on my leather armchair and there is no sign of any residual adhesive

Hi it’s very sticky and strong and did a good job sticking leather but not used it to stick on gems to leather so you would need to make your own decision.
