Weird bodies & beautiful colors
We purchased this for our daughter (4) who recently begun Irish dance. It’s a fun and magical book. The story is well written and easy to understand for little ones. The colors are vibrant the illustrations are magical. Something about the way the body proportions are drawn is really odd. I am glad we purchased this book and recommend it!

Great gift for Irish dancers
My daughter is a beginner in Irish dance and loved this book. She like knowing the story behind her dance.

Patriarchal and sexist content
Patriarchal and sexist content here. Two father kings concoct a scheme in which a princess is chosen to become a fairy so she can marry a fairy prince. All of this is unbeknownst to the princess, who has zero agency, and none of it is problematized by the story—it’s all just presented straightforwardly. The princess lives happily ever after despite having been tricked into marriage by her father, father-in-law, and husband. My wife and I read it to our children once. We made a face at each other, used the oddly tone-deaf content as a teachable moment, and then quietly put the book out of circulation at our house.

Lacking in authentic Irish magic
Somewhat disappointing. Bought to read to kids at an Irish Dance summer camp. Story too wordy, illustrations too weird. Seemed like what I think it is: an Irish fairytale as made up and told by a non-Irish person.
