A great novel about Guru Nanak
This is first time I’ve read about the legend & adventures of Guru Nanak in a novel format. It’s very creative in getting across some aspects of the life & teachings of Guru Nanak. It’s written from the viewpoint of Maradana, the Guru’s first disciple. Maradana was a Muslim by birth & the Guru’s childhood friend. Sikhs consider Maradana as the world’s first Sikh. Enjoyable to read & well written.

Utterly wonderful
This book found me a time when I was in need. Not only has it taught me about Sikhi, Baba Nanak and Bhai Mardana- it’s put a lot into perspective. The stories are utterly enjoyable and heart warming and I recommend this to readers of all ages.Kamla K Kapur has written in Bhai Mardana’s perspective making the reader feel apart of the times of simplicity and our Guru’s solace.I loved this book and how each chapter is split into different stories - must read!

This is different
The Singing Guru is an ingenious approach in discovering a new methodology to reveal the messages of Guru Nanak. Scripted in an innovative, easeful yet gripping style, I found myself being won over by the beautifully woven stories. Through Bhai Mardana, the book highlights the pitfalls of human life, and Kamla Kapur introduces the values and teachings of the Guru Granth Sahib to proffer solutions that the world desperately needs. A real pleasure to read - differentiating from the conventional manner in which the Sikh philosophy is propagated.
