Order one size up
I went with chest size 42 since I don't bench that heavy, but I was wrong, I should have gotten either 44 or 46 to fully cover my arms without feeling like I'm wearing an 18th century corset. The maroon color is more of a plum red. Nice inner pocket.

Nice coat; measurements for size 40 to help with sizing
Nice purchase; hard to find colored lab coats. It is a saturated, deep blue. Seems sturdy; fabric is not lightweight but not too heavy. Sizing was really confusing to figure out, so I will detail some of the measurements for my coat. Unisex sizing is the same as the men's size chart (you can see it if you click on the "Visit the Adar Uniforms Store" link at the top of the listing). I bought a size 40 and it is 21" from armpit to armpit (x2=42" circumference chest). Roomy enough for 37" chest to wear with winter clothes underneath. After I washed it and put it in the dryer, it did not seem to shrink much at all; still 42" chest, and it shrunk maybe 0.5" in length. The pockets are not super small as another reviewer suggested, but maybe not big enough different tools: 7" deep; 6.5" wide. The front pockets start 17" from the top of the shoulder, or 8.5" down from the armpit. The side slit for pants pocket access starts about 1" below the front pocket and is about 5" long. This is fine for me, but I am 5'3". Hope that helps people.

To great, my coworker stole it!
I'm a mortician and got really sick of donning a surgical gown when performing minor procedures in the prep room. So, in 2018 I bought this lab coat. I was very satisfied... although, the belt in the back was a bit loose, so I cinched it to where it was comfy and fit, and stitched it in place to hold it horizontal - it was perfect. This is lightweight enough that I don't sweat while working (one of the worst things about surgical gowns), but still durable. Looks nice enough with my French cuffs and tie that I don't worry about families seeing me when I walk out of the prep room... I'm comfortable at least making quick runs out to my office, but it is not a replacement for my suit jacket. The thing is, one of my coworkers started admiring it on a Monday, on Friday it vanished from the prep room, and when I saw it again (2 weeks later), my coworker's name was embroidered over the pocket. He swears he bought his own, but the belt is stitched the way mine was...At any rate, I've lived without it for a while now but I can't go on without it. Every embalmer should have a black lab coat!! I'm buying my second one to replace the one that was too awesome for my coworker to resist. This time, I'm getting my name embroidered over the pocket to dissuade any of my other coworkers!!

Looks: GREAT! - Practicality: POOR
The good:I bought one of these in black. It fits well despite some reviews stating that it runs small. I found it to fit quite well (I bought a 40 and wear a medium T-shirt). It’s flattering. Slimming. And my co-workers can’t stop admiring it.The bad:The pockets are too shallow, too narrow, and too high. These front pockets are only about 4 inches wide and 4 inches deep. You cannot throw a stethoscope in one easily. You can’t really hold a reflex hammer or anything of length for fear of it falling out. And they are much higher than a traditional lab coat. You cannot comfortably place your hands in them. It feels awkward. And the cutouts that let your hands pass through are also way too high. You can’t really grab things out of your pants through these cutouts. The buttons are much too small for a lab coat and the button holes too tight for quick on-off. It’s like buttoning a dress shirt, stiff. Material is a touch stiff but I like that. Picks up lint very easily. But nothing 20 seconds with a lint roller can’t fix.The verdict:Generally speaking it’s a nice looking coat and at a good price point. But it has numerous practical flaws. Won’t be returning it. But won’t be buying any more.

Best lab coat I've ever bought
Just bought my second Adar lab coat. It's comfy, wears well (I got 4 years of frequent use out of the last one), and has plenty of pockets (love the ones inside the lab coat!). I also love that it comes in many colors as I got super sick of wearing white.A few notes:*If you're a chemist who works with open flames, buy a lab coat that's 100% cotton instead. I wish they made 100% cotton lab coats in pretty colors, but since I don't use open flames, I'm ok wearing this lab coat.*I do wish the back strap had more than one button hole so you could cinch in the waist a little more.*The buttons could be sewn on a little more sturdily but this is a problem that's easy to fix.tl;dr: Despite a couple minor issues, this is still a better lab coat than any of the others I have tried in the past. Highly recommend.

Falling apart after 4 months of wear.
Buttons starting falling off after 4 month of wear. The sides of pockets have started to come undone as well. I wear it to keep from staining my clothes, I do not work in an environment that creates allot of wear on the lab coat. I used to get my lab coat from Cintas and they would last for years. I feel it's just poor quality stitching.
