Americana Souvenirs Historic U.S. Document Reproduction: Travis Letter from The Alamo

This is the standard Travis Letter that you will find pretty much everywhere. I bought it as part of a birthday gift for a friend of mine. If you are thinking of buying one of these and having it framed or buying one already framed, just know that the one already framed is literally just this one in a frame with a steep markup. I did my research, and this is all there is unless you want a really expensive, barely legible life-sized photo replica (on large copier paper). My recommendation would be to buy this and get it framed yourself and save some money.The letter comes in a tube rolled up, so you will need to flatted it under some heavy books for a couple of days, then it will be all right for framing. It is a nice parchment-like paper that has that faded antique look that you would expect. The only thing that I would have changed is the giant 1836 TRAVIS LETTER printed at the top. It is not in the photo for this product, but is IS on the letter that you will receive. I wanted the Travis Letter only, not something written on the Travis Letter identifying the Travis Letter as the Travis Letter. I ordered based on the photo and was disappointed when it arrived. Framing was a little trickier because I had to make the top border cut off the annoying title. Also just FYI, William Barrett Travis was many things, but he was definitely NOT a person who could write straight. The letter is at a slight slant, which also made framing a little tricky. :-P Would still frame it myself again if given the chance - this purchase saved me at least $100 for the type of frame I wanted. Also gave me a lot more variety in frames to choose from.
