No problem watering system
I was a little hesitant to order these after seeing several poor reviews. I went with them because of the Amazon Prime free shipping. I installed in 4" PVC pipe and took care to properly surface the pipe and tap the holes using the correct size tools (9mm drill and 10mm x 1.0 tap). After making sure each seal was in place, I tightened each nipple a bit more than finger tight. So far, after a week or so, I haven't had any leakage, and they seem to be working fine with my chickens. The good news is that I believe all threaded poultry nipples are made to be interchangeable, so if these crap out I can replace them easily. I have seen better ones made of all stainless steel.I will say the plastic these things are made of is pretty fragile. I broke 3 of the 10 I purchased by bumping the pipe on a concrete surface. I would have expected them to be a bit more robust. I would recommend to build and install whatever device you cobble together first, then screw in the nipples. I would also not suggest installing this product in any manner other than a properly threaded hole. I think that would be inviting leakage.

Great for our small little chicken coop!
We have six chickens in our backyard and a small little coop, and we were getting tired of replenishing their water every day. My husband read something online that you can put these metal nipples in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket, hang it up and chickens will learn to peck at them for their water. It totally works! He drilled some small holes in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket, inserted the nipples directly into the holes and, sure enough, our chickens learned within a day how to get water from them. We hung up the bucket about a foot off the ground and we replenish maybe twice a month with a hose. It's the greatest system! In the winter, we insert a bird-feeder warmer in the bucket and it warms the water enough that it won't freeze. We've had a few nipples that dripped and leaked, but they're so cheap that it was no big deal. Most worked great, and you have to be sure to install them exactly vertical into the hole.

UPDATED - Used every day for over three months now
The review below was a review that I posted that I THOUGHT was the same product that I ordered and received from here. How wrong I was. The product that was (and is) fantastic came from a different company. Yep, they look the same. Nope, they're not the same. I ordered TWO packages of 5 of these nipples here. ALL 10 leak and leak CONSTANTLY. They can handle no pressure at all. It is unreal the difference between what I bought before (and paid more for) and what I bought here.I've had to go back to the original company and order 10 more nipples just to replace these. How incredibly disappointing after weeks of leaks and soaking my coop several times. The review below is still how I feel about the concept and my ORIGINAL 10 purchase from Avianaquamiser.com. They have still, 6 months into it never leaked once. I won't make that mistake again! They may look the same on the outside.........ORIGINAL REVIEW...Outstanding idea. I was so sick of chickens pooping in their watering bucket and sloshing the hung ones around that I looked up and found this idea. I drilled the holes in a large galvanized bucket and installed 5 nipples in the bottom. I did add a little Gorilla Glue around the outside just to ensure no leaking. In over 3 months there's not been ONE leak and the nipples have worked perfectly. My 16 chickens took about a day to get used to it (they were about 3 weeks old when introduced) and since then have used nothing else except rain water. I am ordering 10 more for my flock of 53 coming in two weeks to start them off immediately. The best invention for chicken watering available. Clean water 100% of the time, attach to anything you can come up with.

Chickens are a little slow
The product functions perfectly, now if I could just get my chickens to look up instead of watching the water go down. We intentionally allowed it to drip so they would attempt to drink. It's fun watching them follow the drops down even if a little frustrating. We still don't dare have this as the only water source even after a month as I'm not sure that they quite "get it".

Homemade Drinker
So far all I have done is assemble my drinkers and they seem to be working like they are meant to. The only issue i have found is that i needed a bigger drill bit then what the instructions called for. I will add more after we get the chickens and see how it works with them.

Needs regular adjustment
We were excited to try these with our chickens for a cleaner, easier lower maintenance watering system. We have been frustrated with them in the 5 gallon bucket in which we installed them. They seem to need a little "fiddling" with on a regular basis to get the water to come out. Not sure our "girls" are getting the hang of it and drinking enough from them. Had hoped for better results.

Fantastic
These are great, it only took my 6wk old chick about 2hrs to get the hang of them. I have put them in the bottom of a 4.5 gallon bucket which has lasted my 6 chicks more than 3 weeks now there is still 1/4 bucket left and the remaining water is still crystal clear.

Working as advertised
Purchased a set of these for my ducks. Hooked up 4 to the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket. It took them two days to figure it out, but they finally got the hang of it. No leaking that I can see for now.Instructions are a bit mixed up and contradictory, I ended up using a 11/32 drill bit for the buckets because that was the size I had read to use elsewhere. I used teflon tape and they went in smoothly.Ordering more for chickens and ducks - hope they continue to work and will update otherwise.
