Very Woody Fragrant
Update: This wood still smell fragrant even after leaving it out on the table for months without burning!! This is definitely authentic. Originally, I gave this 4 stars but I feel like it doesn't do it justice so I am giving it full 5 stars!!!This is my first time using palo santo so I don't know the quality of these and I don't know how it is suppose to smell like when being burned. There is a pleasant wooden fragrance when I sniffed them. I followed the instruction and wait to see how it would smell after being burned. It smelled very woody at first so I thought I got the fake thing. After the smoke was gone for hours, I smelled nothing because my nose got used to it. When I left my room for a few minutes and came back, I noticed that the woody scent still lingered around in my room, and so I think it is the real thing. Each time I lit it up, the more I am attracted to it so I think it really is the real thing. After seeing all the positive reviews, I am definitely convinced that it is the real thing. Aside from that I use it mainly for energy cleansing purpose. I didn't noticed any changes within my mood or negative thoughts when using it, so a small part of me still questioned whether it is the real thing. I noticed the same result when using sage smudge stick so I guess it's probably my personal problem then.

Smells and burns just like the stuff from Peru...it is from Peru!
So glad I found this! Last year at a festival I met a guy from Peru and he gave me a piece of this "holy wood" that he had brought from his country. I loved it immediately and having run out now I was on the search to find something similar! This was sourced from Peru and had some good reviews so I thought I would give it a shot. Seemed like most of the bad reviews were from people not familiar with this type of wood and how it burns and smells. The pieces are small compared to the original piece gifted to me, but they look feel and smell the same! I love this stuff and am so happy to have my place smelling like this again! As long as you are not expecting some kind of "incent stick" and maybe know a little bit about this stuff, I think you will be pleased also! It may seem pricey but you do get a lot of sticks and I think they will last a long time

Most likely fake, but still smells nice.
They seem to be sticks of normal wood. I am not an expert, but my wife knows a lot about this sort of stuff, as she is a LMT and an energy healer. These appear to be normal domestic wood sticks, probably treated with an exotic oil. This is further evidenced by the way a stick will initially burn when lit, then when it goes out it is much more difficult to re-light, and it will not stay lit. This suggests that it was coated with an oil, which burns of initially, leaving bare domestic wood underneath. There is also a difference in scent between burning an unlit section, and an area that has already been burnt. I am not going to detract more than 2 stars, because it is difficult to determine exactly which kind of wood they actually are. It is probably fake, however it still smells nice. In researching the history of this wood, the term "Holy Wood" refers to what was done with the wood (ceremonies, clearing, etc.), so the type of wood really was (is) not that important. That said, these are very expensive wood sticks. Especially considering the 4 cords of fire wood I have stacked outside. This type of product is ripe for fraud, and that seems to be what this is.

then you will love this product
If you are truly buying authentic Palo Santo and not some wood dipped in incense or oils, then you will love this product. The smell is strong but not overpowering, one small stick has a good kick to it. It takes a bit of patience and practice to light them. I have a small cast iron cauldron/pot filled with clay sand. You can use cat litter if it is non-flame. Fill it enough to hold your stick straight up, the ash will fall inside your pot. If you have A/C or fans on, make sure your stick is not in the path of the air. You will get ash everywhere but your pot!

Probably the best Palo Santo I've gotten -EDITED
Probably the best Palo Santo I've gotten. Even my friends who are big palo santo fans come over and admire how potent and beautiful ours smells. I have to remind myself that it is a limited resource and slow my roll otherwise I'd burn it every day!It really does just bring so much peace and warmth into my home.Editing my review: We just reordered and second batch and it's nothing like the first. It's almost like the added oil from something else to try to make it smell strong, but it doesn't smell terribly like palo santo. I'll try once more since the first batch was so good, but they definitely have some inconsistency/quality control issues.

"Boom!"
Great stuff!!!! I think I made a crack about palo santo going out in the question section (from previous suppliers) before I received my order from this vendor.Nope. This stuff stays lit. The only thing I can think of is that maybe s/he didn't get the flame going enough before blowing out. If you full on set the stick on fire, about an inch down from the tip, and let the flame burn for 15+ (?) seconds before blowing out, it should keep going enough to smudge a small home before going out. It's been raining here, so they've been in about as moist an environment as anyone else.Tho yes, lighting it and expecting it to be smoldering gently an hour later I can't picture happening. I think of it more as a lovely treat than a nonstop incense thing. If that helps....

Great Company!
Amazing quality. I have to say that if you are not used to Palo Santo, you might be disappointed. Palo Santo is a sacred wood and has a sweet yet minty scent. Great for meditation and clearing the energy of your house. I would recommend closing all the doors and windows of the room you are trying to clear. Be careful though, the smoke gets pretty dense and your smoke alarms may go off.I have been using Palo Santo for my meditation sessions for years and this brand is really good. Dead branches are harvested - ONLY dead branches falling from trees. Technically, you are not supposed to even burn those branches for years, so make sure you are buying from knowledgable seller.
