Dependability
I am a Emergency Vehicle Technician which uses this angle drill everyday. When you need to not break off a screw or bolt I will use this. It is strong but not too strong to not ream off a bolt or screw. It can get in tight spots and is very dependable. Buying a second one to have two on hand to make my job quicker. Great product! Edit as of 9/1/23, I have three now!

Very Good Impact Driver
I love the way this chuck has 2 usable positions for the screw tips, which the others brands cannot do. This can make it fit in smaller spaces, giving me another inch to work with. Makita has made remarkable tools like this, that I have used for over a decade now. Most importantly is how I have found their batteries more reliable than the other comparable brands.

Qualify and price
I like because I can converte as a wrench of 3/8 , 1/2 and as screw driver wit some adapters so there is not one but 5 different tools

Impressed
This isn't a driver you'll need very often but when you need it, it does a great job. First thing is that the bits you use need to have a longer hex shank, you can't just us a small bit by itself with the driver, you need at least a 1 1/2 inch bit to be long enough. I kind of wondered why it didn't have any torque settings but I don't think it really matters much. It doesn't hit as hard at the regular high end Makita drivers but that's good, less of a chance of stripping out the screw. I also thought it was a tad heavy but the heft actually works to your advantage. When gripped with one of your hands over the Hex end it's easier to drive with that extra heft.

Great right angle impact, loses one star for using an older brushed motor
This is a great right angle impact, and does exactly what I need it to, being used for installation in areas where a conventional impact would be unable to fit. It's not so powerful you have to worry about damaging the workpiece, yet has plenty of power for driving fasteners below the surface of hardwoods. It's loud, but not as loud as competitors from other brands. It loses one star because it uses a brushed rather than brushless motor, and it's unclear whether Makita will make replacement brushes available or whether you will need to replace the entire motor or discard the tool. However, given the usual duty time for the motor is rather minimal, that's not that big a concern. It works well, like all Makita tools it is supremely balanced and feels like a quality tool; this replaced an older Ridgid model for which I could not source a replacement NiCd battery. If you're already on the LXT platform, you can't go wrong with this. I thought I didn't need it, and then I bought it and now I use it ALL THE TIME.

Almost headless!! And an IMPACT driver as well
Talk about getting into tight places! And impact no less... How many times have you used other right angle drill, w/ big chucks and found you had not the leverage in a tight space to just send a screw home? And now we own impact drivers for most screw sinking operations that don't pop out of the head when the going gets tough, and hardly ever ruin the head of the screw. So here we have this great right angle tool that has almost no head dimension, allowing us to get into tighter spaces yet, and it's IMPACT drive. Great! Love it. And I'm also now a huge Makita cordless tool fan, they just have such a stable of excellently designed and powerful cordless tools. I'm a finish carpenter of 40 years, and love this stuff!

Awesome 90° impact driver makes working in tight spaces easy.
Makita reliability. Works on any Makita 18V LXT (lithium-ion) battery. Great for getting in tight spaces and/or awkward areas. (530in-lbs/44 ft-lbs, 1/4" locking hex-shank speed chuck) Drives screws, bolts, nuts, drills holes. Best use is as a companion tool for Makita's 18v LXT drill/driver combo kit, to expand versatility. TOOL ONLY. Battery and charger not included, but may be purchased as a kit, or separately.
