Good antivirus for laptop
I have used it for a while now, and it works wonders. It's one of the best anti-virus programs you can use to protect your laptop, and it comes with extras and a reasonable price.

Good price and easy to set up, can avoid auto renewal.
Good price for 5 devices. Email took about an hour to come through, then just follow instructions. It asks for payment details, I clicked on PayPal, then it asked for details. At this point I cancelled, brought back to main screen in bitdefender central and subscription was activated, expires in a years time. No need to mess on with auto renewal.

Awful customer service, not able to activate using code
Since buying the subscription on 29th December have been trying to activate. Licence is accepted, but requires you to submit bank card details for next years auto-renewal. When trying to do has an error on saving card details and can get no further. Have tried numerous browsers, bank cards to no avail. Upon contacting Bitdefender support have provided screenshots, invoice, everything, but now receiving no response. Have requested a formal complaint be raised, no response. Phoned up today, right from offset had awful customer service - person said I needed to contact the organisation who runs the payment system myself. When asked if a formal complaint was raised - he said there would be no response to this as they just saw it as feedback. I asked if there was a complaints team or even a supervisor - he said no! He was the highest person I could speak to. Throughout the advisor was unpleasant and speaking over me, and finally put the phone down on me. From my side I stayed calm and polite so felt there was no excuse. As stated to the advisor, the software was good, worked well, but unfortunately has been let down by the support team.

Good software
I switched from a couple of other well known brands, one down to the excessive amounts of pop ups and notifications even adverts that were a plague, and another that from a long as 4 months before it's renewal was up was popping up reminders because I had tuned off auto renewal. This has been a more relaxing experience and over 12 months has been excellent software. I recently received an auto renewal notice, just one, asking me to check my credit card details and that I would be charged a lot of money to renew. So I just bought a new license from Amazon instead, less than half the quoted price and just a matter of adding the new number to my account. Been in IT for decades and this is one of the best security products out there.

Works... With a caveat. Read below.
Worked, but will be a bit of a hassle for most to deal with, be warned! Once you purchase this, you'll get an email with a license key for the software activation. As of today 09/02/2025, to activate your license you need to login to your BitDefender account and apply it. When you have applied the license, it will lock you into an unavoidable window requiring you to save your credit card details to enable automatic renewal. There is no discernible way to bypass this, no 'close' button or anything. (I would consider this a dark pattern in user experience design, pretty scummy of you BitDefender...) It did it, though it progressed onto the bank account checking third party service, which I simply clicked 'Cancel'. Once that is closed, it brings you back to your BitDefender account showing your license is activated. I made sure to check that my auto renewal was indeed cancelled by checking the BitDefender support page under the 'Bitdefender Subscription Auto-Renewal: Configure your preferences' which you can Google search to bring up. It will show you two options on how to check and cancel your subscription, option 1 did it for me. While on that Verifone website, I made sure there wasn't any saved payment details too. So overall, just ensure you're fully aware of what you're buying into. I'm sure it's BitDefender's modus operandi to get you hooked into a cheap first year then rip you off in the consecutive years once you have forgotten about the renewal. Use your head, don't be suckered.

Bitdefender Just Works
Bitdefender is honestly one of the best antivirus programs I’ve used. It runs quietly in the background and doesn’t slow down my computer at all. What I really like is that you can actually turn off those annoying pop ups unlike a lot of other antivirus apps that don’t even give you that option. It just does its job without constantly interrupting you. Simple reliable and solid choice overall.

Beware, Bitdefender forces an autorenewal subscription to activate your paid for product
In terms of the software, time will tell, but no reason to think it won't run as expected. I have been a Kaspersky user for 20 years and only changing due to global politics. What you need to be aware of: Bitdefender will not allow you to access your software (which you have to activate via the Bitdefender Central web app) without demanding your bank card details to set up an autorenewal subscription even though you have just paid for the product with a 1 or 2 year licence through Amazon. In my case, the autorenewal for next year would be nearly 5 times as much. There does not appear to be any way to circumvent this step when activating your product (I am not alone when reading forums). Furthermore, cancelling the autorenewal after activating is not as simple as you might think. You have to search the Bitdefender support website for the link to Verifone (2Checkout), which I presume is Bitdefender's third party payment site, then login using your email address and a verification code. You can then find your product and cancel the autorenewal subscription. You'll then have to search for the tab with stored payment details to also remove your bank card details. Hopefully this actually cancels the auto renewal. This is just an unnecessary nuisance step that will easily catch out certain people who will forget to cancel the subscription and end up paying a high premium to maintain the status quo 12 months later, but at least you are now aware before you purchase. Rating of 3 stars. The software is likely brilliant at what it is expected to do, but forcing the user to provide sensitive financial information to Bitdefender AFTER purchasing through Amazon is poor and flies in the face of what we are all advised to do when avoiding an online scam.
