Accurate and Reliable HR Monitor – A Great One-Time Investment
I’ve been using the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus for the past 10 days with my Garmin Fenix 7X, primarily for running and CrossFit, and I’ve been really impressed with its performance. If you’re looking for a reliable heart rate monitor that delivers consistent results, this is a fantastic option. Accurate Heart Rate Tracking: The HR data is very accurate and consistent. I’ve compared the readings with my Whoop 4.0 (bicep strap), and the numbers are nearly identical. Unlike the Whoop wrist strap, which often underestimates heart rate in higher zones (4-5), the HRM-Pro Plus delivers precise readings across all intensity levels. One-Time Payment – A Major Advantage: One of the best aspects of the HRM-Pro Plus is that it’s a one-time purchase. With Whoop’s subscription model, costs add up over time, but with Garmin, you pay once and enjoy the benefits without any ongoing fees. This was a big factor in my decision to switch to Garmin as my main HR monitor. Learning Curve with the App: The only downside I’ve encountered is the Garmin Connect app interface. It’s not the most intuitive and takes a bit of time to get used to. However, once you get past the learning curve, it’s manageable. In Summary: I’m extremely satisfied with the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus and plan to make it my primary HR monitor for workouts. Given that my Fenix 7X already does an excellent job tracking sleep and recovery, I’m confident I can retire my Whoop altogether. If you’re looking for accuracy, consistency, and a solid alternative to subscription-based fitness trackers, this is a great choice.

Works really well
A fantastic addition to any runner's toolkit, this HRM is both accurate and functional and connects very quickly to my coros watch which is obviously a different brand from garmin, showing its connectivity and also its bluetooth capacity. It is also worth noting that I believe the chest strap is far more accurate than the arm hrm that coros uses and if you are a coros user, I would highly recommend getting this HRM.

Good piece of kit
I wanted this so that I could get details of my heart rate etc when swimming as well as doing other activities and it does the job. I can't comment on durability as I have only had it a short time, but it seems fairly sturdy. It is comfortable to wear when in place, but I found it a bit tricky to adjust and get it sitting correctly. Having said that, it has never not worked. It was quite expensive, but if you want to be able to get the information for training, then you need it, and on the whole it was a reasonable price to spend for that purpose.

Good improvements - Bluetooth connectivity, screwless battery compartment and more
As an upgrade from the older HRM Run, the HRM-Pro Plus offers a number of improvements. The Bluetooth connectivity is a standout feature, allowing easy pairing with your Garmin device and providing real-time battery level information. The screwless battery door is a convenient touch, eliminating the hassle of dealing with tiny screws that can rust and break over time. While the standalone function isn’t particularly useful for most runners who typically wear a watch, the ability to pair with other apps via Bluetooth could be a valuable feature for those who prefer a different app ecosystem. The strap itself is comfortable and fits securely, offering a similar experience to the HRM Run. While I haven’t conducted scientific tests, the HR accuracy seems to be on par with other Garmin heart rate monitors. Overall, the HRM-Pro Plus is a solid upgrade over the HRM Run, especially if you can find a good deal during a sale like Black Friday. The Bluetooth connectivity and screwless battery door make it a more convenient and durable option. However, if you're on a budget, the HRM Run is still a capable heart rate monitor.

One of my best purchases
My wife had had a medical procedure after a heart issue, and her Fitbit was still producing worrying heart rates. Bought this, and it became clear that the procedure had probably worked, and the Fitbit was sometimes giving false results. So an excellent purchase - really eased her worries. But stopped working after 6 weeks - replacing the battery fixed this, so shipped with a rather poor battery. Edit: this was eating through batteries, and we no longer use it. But it served its purpose, which we'll always be grateful for. It could have been even better, though!

Works really Well !
Added some moisture, as instructed, to the contact points or the HRM and paired with my iphone really easily. I wanted to be able to get out on the road without carrying a phone but wanting to keep track of HR and other jogging data as I was returning to jogging in my 60's after a fairly long absence. I pair it with my Garmin Fenix 7 Pro and once back it downloads a fantastic array of data on my training session. Delighted with it as it works perfectly every time. The download is then visible on my Garmin app or on my desktop computer Garmin gateway. Superb training aid and ensures I'm not going too crazy for my age - Mo Farrah look out :))

Integration with the watch is really poor. The watch doesn't seem to handle well not having the strap on, leading to long and interrupted syncing on those occasions or activities. When you are wearing it, the recording occasionally fails for no apparent reason with no way of diagnosing what went wrong. Very frustrating. Wake up Garmin, you have lost your way. Think about Psion, Palm, blackberry, Nokia. Feels like Garmin have the same existential problem....

Behold, the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus – the love child of a heart rate monitor and a fitness guru! This isn't just a strap; it's the VIP pass to the exclusive party of my heartbeats. It's like having a personal fitness cheerleader, transmitting real-time data to my Garmin 935 faster than I can say 'I need more steps.' But wait, there's more! It's not just about heartbeats; it's a running dynamics maestro, capturing my every stride like a fitness paparazzo. It knows more about my running form than I do – vertical oscillation, ground contact time, stride length – it's practically my running therapist. And guess what? It even computes pace and distance for my treadmill endeavors. Move over, math; Garmin's got this! Swimming? No problem. This strap is like the Aquaman of heart rate monitors, storing data underwater and sending it to my watch once I'm back on dry land. It's so aquatic, I'm half expecting it to join synchronized swimming competitions. And don't get me started on the battery life – up to a year! It outlasts my resolutions to eat more kale. The tool-free quarter-turn battery door is like the Batman utility belt of durability – easy to use and ready for any fitness adventure. In conclusion, the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus is not just a heart rate monitor; it's a fitness sidekick, a data superhero, and a workout bestie. Move over, ordinary HRMs; Garmin's here to turn my heartbeats into a fitness symphony!
