The Complete Poetry & Prose of William Blake

The book is a gem, external look wise, the condition and the content. A must buy for all the literature enthusiasts.

I have a library of few thousand books, nothing fancy from auctions or first edition from 17th century or Shakespeares First Folio for that matter. But I know good books. This is a great book. For the content, it is king. But as piece of bookmaking it is horrible. Imagine a Truffle burger in McDonald. Highest of art, printed well mind you, but bound with such thin cover pages, God knows how long it will last. The annotations are basic ( you ought to know your Blake ABC's from elsewhere ) . No decent introduction etc. If you want details get NORTON Critical Editions etc. This is a complete collection thats it.

couldn't find blake's "tiriel" in it. the rest is fine. edit: my bad, it has everything blake.

The book is wonderful, just that it was delivered with an ear formed on the corner of the cover. Basically a few pages were folded from the corner including the main cover and there was also a slight tear on the main cover. I want my copy replaced and I don’t know how to contact amazon for that.

Edição definitiva e um sonho de adolescência; passei toda a vida lendo edições parciais e hoje tenho a possibilidade de aproveitar Blake em sua totalidade.

Il libro di per sè è da avere, se si vuole studiare seriamente Blake; non credo ci siano edizioni migliori di questa. Purtroppo però la mia copia è arrivata un po' maltrattata; la parte superiore della copertina era un po' ammaccata, e dovendolo regalare, la cosa non mi è piaciuta affatto. In ogni caso, super consigliato.

A comprehensive collection of Blake‘s works chronologically ordered. The quality of the book/paper is good and although it is quite large and heavy, you can still easily read it and carry it around.

I used The Complete Poetry & Prose of William Blake for a critical thinking course—my professor is a big fan—and I can see why. The depth and complexity of Blake’s work really pushed our discussions further. The format is dense but comprehensive, with helpful commentary and context. It’s not light reading, but it’s a powerful resource for deeper literary analysis.

I typically prefer buying poetry collections rather than complete editions. However, in the case of Blake, I think an exception is necessary; an holistic approach to his poetry helps greatly in understanding this intricate cosmos. I am especially happy with the near 100-page commentary by the literary sage, Harold Bloom. His reverence for poetry is infectious.
