A true value vs worth
After spending over $300 on three other stick-vacs and ending up giving or throwing them away, I decided to go with the most expensive one. It would have been cheaper and less hassle to just buy the best first. I still don't know that Dyson is the best but I do know that it is worth what it costs. The performance and quality are obvious immediately upon vacuuming the areas that we have it for. Litter and cat and dog hair in the hard floor areas is easily and completely disposed of. The catcher compartment is kinda small but is so easy to empty that the size is a mute point. My wife loves its light weight and ease of handling with such good pickup power. She does agree with other commenters that the power switch tires out her finger, good grief, really???? It is a battery operated device with limited time on batteries' life and a momentary switch is all that makessense. My only reservation is the durability of the wall mount assembly. It seems a bit light weight in the plastics' wall thicknesses and as such might be prone to breaking easily. Time will tell. I almost took a star away for the wall mount but decided in fairness to let it ride with letting time testing to tell the truth.

Expensive, and worth every penny!
Am I actually going to say I love this vacuum? Yes! I just moved, and the place has beautiful dark hardwood floors. We have a cat. The only place to store the traditional vacuum cleaner is in the cellar. It was a big pain to drag it up, and of course it has to be plugged in and it's heavy. I thought it was crazy to pay $300 for a stick vacuum, but I decided to treat myself to this Dyson V6. I looked at all the reviews and decided on the least expensive version. I am so glad I did! I cannot believe how good the floors look now and how easy it is to vacuum with the V6. I used to vacuum, then use Bona to get the floors clean. Now I just vacuum. It's so easy I do it every couple of days. This little stick vacuum is fantastic! There were several reviews saying "don't waste your money, get this one or that one for less" - but none of those have the ball head that this has. It's incredible how well it works. You can steer it into almost any corner, and it cleans right up to the edge. It's light weight, the battery lasts long enough to vacuum the entire house (it's only 1100 sq feet), and it's relatively quiet. Hold it over the trash can, slide the latch down, and the door pops open and it's emptied. Then slide it back into it's bracket on the wall (behind the door in the kitchen) and you're done.Wow, I'm actually raving about a vacuum. Yes, I am. It's fun!

Worked great for the first couple weeks. BEWARE Dyson also refuses to cover under warranty if it's used in a small office room.
This was exactly what we needed for our small office. With only 2 carpets by the entry doors the battery lasted long enough to vacuum the office and is perfect for spot cleaning..... for about a month. After 3-4 weeks of using it 3-4x per week for a quick pick up on the rugs and vacuuming the office floor 1-2x a week it started acting like the battery was dying even if I just pulled it off the charger. If I could make it do something through it's spitting and sputtering turning on and off it may or may not actually turn on and work correctly. Now at 2 months later it doesn't work 95% of the time. It turns on and off in spurts like it does when the battery is dying, we have taken it apart and made sure its all cleaned out but it still doesn't work. For the name brand and the price of it I expected MUCH more. I have a Dyson at home and its been great, this one however... has been nothing but frustration.UPDATE: After going through the troubleshooting with Dyson I have found that the very small filter in the top of the unit is horrible to try to keep clean and can account for the constant issue with "air flow". The filters have to be not just brushed off but washed out or blown out with pressured air to keep it clean enough to work. I was also told that no matter how small the office room is you use it in, they will refuse to honor the warranty if it's used outside a home setting. This is a small office room for a very small family business, much smaller than if it were actually used in my house but they will not honor the warranty, now that we already spent the money on it - SO BUYER BEWARE if you buy this for an office setting, which is what it would have been perfect for had it not turned out to be such a hassle trying to keep all its filters cleaned out. Very disappointed in the design and in Dyson for refusing to warranty it.

Handy . . . when it worked
After all these years of seeing Dyson commercials and their claims, I decided to buy one. Actually, two. Also bought the small ball multi floor upright. Why two? Even though my house is only 1550 sq ft, I felt the upright would be more accommodating for general cleaning. However, the ball feature makes it difficult to get under some things and that's where the cordless helps. No, I didn't buy the cordless just to get under things. It's handy for small jobs and also can become a hand held for vacuuming the car interior. So far, this product works well. It was easy to assemble, easy to mount the charger, and is easy to clean. The durability and longevity of the suction remains to be seen and I will update as things progress.UPDATE 3/15/22: Dead. Born May 2016; died March 2022. This thing was treated with the utmost care. Monthly cleanings. Everything. The entire unit. Every nook and cranny. Once a month. And now it doesn't run for thirty seconds. I've had vacuums that were a fraction of the cost last years and years longer. Oh, it was great while it lasted. I can't deny that. But for the money spent, it came up way short of expectations. At the same time, I purchased a Dyson Small Ball Upright. Still works great but I guess I should be preparing for another funeral in the near future.
