Set on a famous nudist beach, Maslin Beach is a film about crazy people involved in crazy misunderstandings and romantic squabbles, a naked hilarious search for the meaning of life. It is also a gentle story of love. Simon's attempts to summon the courage to face the truth about his relationship with Marcie over the course of one afternoon, leads to a bitter sweet jolt to his life. With other relationships on the beach interfering with his intentions, a myriad of characters attempt to make sense of it all.

Naked people say it better
Maslin Beach can be best described as a movie depicting a typical day at an Australian nudist beach. It opens with a guy and his girlfriend driving to the beach in the morning. As they walk onto the beach, the narration begins. It is the guy, Simon, he wants someone to tell him how one knows if he or she are in love. He is having doubts about his relationship with his girl Marcie. This provides a thread that links the various vignettes throughout the movie together. As the film progresses, it focuses on various male/female couples and a group of three girls. Soon the viewer relalizes that these people did not come to the beach to tan those bits that rarely see the sun, but to explore and evaluate their relationships. Being naked merely makes the process easier because, as the old saying goes, "Naked people don't have anything to hide!"Maslin Beach features more than a few stark naked and semi-naked people. It is a credit to the director that the cast is not made up of only "beautiful people," as the film features dorky-looking guys, saggy gals, and very physically unfit people of both sexes. It doesn't take long for the bushy deltas and dangling penises to take a backseat as the dialogue begins to assert itself. This is where the movie both succeeds and fails. The writer seems to lack confidence as he gives the viewer far too many discussions to follow. I found some to be almost profound, while others were absurd. All were too short. The viewer would have been better served by two or three long conversations rather than the banal chatter of six or seven. For my money, I would have picked the three girls, Simon and Marcie, and the couple discussing the lying daughter.Nonetheless, this is a nice, quirky little movie that is not deep, but does cause one to think.

TWO STARS ONLY FOR THE STORY LINE
Quite frankly, I was embarrassed for all the blokes that decided to do this movie 'au naturel'. If I were equipped as little as all of them were, I certainly would never have done a nude movie that's for sure. Thank goodness the cameras caught very few close-up shots of their private parts! For the storyline, I must admit that it was kind of OK. A bit stupid in some segments, but OK. Definitely not one to add to one's DVD library like I did. Put it at the back of the stack if you do decide to buy it. I would suggest if this is your cup of tea, rent it first.

I actually liked this...
I was surprised. I initially thought this was going to be just another skin flick exploitation film. But actually it was a rather oddball little film that other than a few scenes that tended to drag, was actually a lot of fun as we watched a group of quirky, almost screwball characters wander through a weekend day at a nude beach. Included were a couple of recurring central characters, including one young man who was in a search of that totally elusive mystery we call love. No real belly laughs in this one, just a lot a chuckles and smiles.

Nudity w/o violence or overt sex
Nudity without violence or overt sex is very unusual in this era. In that sense this is a gem. But it is simplicity leans to an immature audience. And I am an old man in that sense. So I would have preferred a more developed concept and less childish humor.

One of the actors looked like he was actually a naturist
Kinda goofy. A series of little stories, and one main story almost lost in the background of things that just don't happen at nude beaches. At least not in the States. One of the actors looked like he was actually a naturist. The rest were pasty white or loaded with tan lines, for people that supposedly frequent a nude beach? Nah.Doesn't really portray naturism well, bad acting.

Not exactly what I had expected.
I haven't decided if this movie is funny or a documentary. This is definitely for adults only - I would say PG21.

Having lived in Australia this is a pretty accurate portrayal of life on the beach.

a nudist movie?
Dont be put off by this. (or attracted). The fact that most of the characters are naked throughout is totally coincidental and passes unnoticed after the first ten minutes. This is a serious, touching and funny film. human life condensed into one day on the beach. Totally absorbing viewing from titles to credits.

Maslin Beach
Maslin Beach is a lovely naturist beach full of very strange, mostly very funny people of all shapes and sizes who act out their moments in front of camera naturally and without embarrasment. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone.

You forget the nudity.
Imagine a long sitcom episode but where everyone is naked. That's this, but in the same way as you don't notice how the characters on tv are dressed, after a few minutes you forget these people are naked.

Nice But Slow
This was a cute film about a day on a nude beach... several stories are explored throughout the day... there's lots of non-sexaul nudity. I found the film slow and storylines not well developed but fun to watch regardless.
