A robust solution
These are much heavier duty that what is avaiable in the big box stores. Second time purchasing it as my older cables eventually wore out.

Incredible product A+++ Love these Heated Roof Cables!
I got the 62ft cable. I noticed water dripping into my house from the crawlspace above it. It was leaking through the window frame so thankfully I will have minimal molding as it's exiting and will dry out.The day after I saw the dripping I ordered this product. The selling point for me was that the cable itself is durable enough and safe enough that it can be overlapped and not short out or catch fire. It's been very very cold here this winter in MN, the roof is hard and iced over so there's no way I could install it properly in those conditions. I plugged in the cable and unfurled it and laid the loops of cable across the ice dam above my leaking window. Within the day, the cables had cut through the ice and I was able to climb my ladder and yank out big 2 ft pieces of ice to allow melting ice water to properly flow down the gutter. I used a roof rake to pull the snow off above the dam and NO MORE LEAKS! You can even place this cable into the gutters to ensure they'll perform for you in the cold.Admittedly the portion of roof I was working with is probably 20 ft long so I didn't really need 62 feet. Not for the purpose I was using it for at least.... I do plan on installing the wire with clips this spring/summer but may need an additional cable for the rest of the roof. This was a great great great solution for a roof that I could barely reach on my 25 foot ladder. If you have a higher or more precarious roof, of course have a local handyman install it. Don't risk hurting yourself. I'm agile and surefooted so I wasn't that concerned about my wellbeing lol.Really this is so so so worth it. Don't wait til you get heavy damage in your ceiling or walls and have to contact your home insurance team to replace walls and cost you your deductible. Also remember to clean your gutters in the fall so they can hopefully keep up with most of the snow (that'll save you more time and money in the long run too)Even with my vented and insulated crawlspaces and the gutter screen guards I have installed, I still got some leakage. This is a great thing to have when you can simply plug it in and know that it'll get the job done.A+ product. I've recommended it to a lot of friends already.

Quality
Very impressed with the overall quality and build. Should be fine outside in another brutal Minnesota winter.

Prevents ice dams in built-in metal gutters
I have a 85-year-old house with slate roofs and built-in metal box gutters. I run this heat tape in the bottom of the gutters and down the aluminum leads (drainpipes) to prevent freeze-up and ice dams in the gutters since there is a path for the melted water to drain even when the temp is below 0 degrees F. Although more expensive than others, I like that this tape is well-made and self-regulating. I only power these up when there is snow on the roof or in the gutters. I installed one three years ago in the front gutters and the difference was amazing; this year I added three more for all the other gutters on the house, including one that has always been problematic.

AWESOME customer service, well made product
While I have just installed this product and cannot speak to its overall effectiveness or durability yet, it seems well made and up to the challenge. The main reason I am writing this is to laud the excellent customer service that Steve, the owner of the company provided me as I planned how to install the cable. He made his cell phone number available in an email I received after purchasing the product online. I had a couple of questions so I texted him, thinking it would be days before I heard back. I was surprised to receive a response in a matter of minutes, which led to a text conversation that allowed me to get his help and insight into our situation. I felt much more confident in how I wanted to lay out the cable on our metal cabin roof to optimize its effect, and really appreciated his time and effort. That's the kind of service we often long for but rarely see these days!

Works
Only needed to do the valleys. 3 clips at the top, 2 at the bottom and spacers in between.

Really works well
In all honesty I was pretty skeptical about using any roof deicing cables. I had my doubts if they would really work. So far i'm pretty impressed. We have had a nasty snow storm here in the Northeast and these cables are doing a great job keeping the gutters free of ice so they drain well. These cables are not the cheapest on the market but they have some unique features. The biggest one I like is that you can overlap them. I wanted to do this with the end loops in the gutter and the final run of cable that runs all the way through the bottom of the gutter. This helps ensure that there is always a path for the melt water. The cheaper ones do not allow you to have the cables touch one another. It still has not been very cold up here so I have yet to see how well they work when we get slammed with a big snow storm followed by an arctic freeze. That situation has always lead to some nasty ice dams. So far though I'm pretty happy with this purchase.

Great quality
I was glad to see that this heater cable is not like the other cables I have seen. This one is very heavy duty and solidly made. The plug lights up when you plug it in so you know it is working. So many other ones warn you to make sure it does not touch another part of the cable. This cable says that is OK. I ran the cable down a pipe and back up it to be sure I could keep it from freezing. When it is inside a pipe where you can not see it, you cannot tell if the cables touch so this one was just what I needed. I was unable to get it installed for last winter and I had a lot of issues so I am so much happier this year with no freeze ups.Don't waste your money on the other cheep ones, get the Heat Tape Pro.

Ice Dams Be Gone
I installed this on an apartment building roof and down the gutters where excess heat was creating problematic ice melt. The ice melt overwhelms the gutters, creates ice damming (which can damage the roof) and also results in a vertical frozen waterfall that reaches three floors down by early spring. The original solution was to renovate that part of the building to mitigate the loss of heat. This heat tape took care of the rest. Combined with a thermostat, the heat tape is working perfectly. The thermostat turns it on at 5C and there's no icicles hanging from the roof anymore.

This is THE heating cable!
With a low-slope roof, we depend on having good quality heating cables in our 7 downspouts. Over time, the ones provided by our builder are failing. I ordered 2 replacements from Radiant Solutions and they are absolutely superb quality. I can easily see these lasting far beyond the life span of the builder's cables. The fact that the connections are done at the factory, instead of after market, makes them far less likely to fail. The thickness of the cables is also superior to others we've seen. The glow of the plug and the light at the end of the cable, make it easy to see when we've turned them on. Very happy with this product and will do our best to only use this company's heating cables in future.

Good build quality and VERY responsive vendor.
After speaking with the vendor, and prior to installing a previously purchased item (the Heat Cable for Pipe Freeze Protection, with Built-in Thermostat) the vendor recommended I return the Heat Cable for Pipe Freeze Protection with the built-in Thermostat and instead purchase the Heat Tape Pro as I did not require the Thermostatic control. Consequently, even before I returned the Heat Cable, the Heat Tape Pro was sent out. It was installed but has yet to see a cold season. However, I suspect it will work as intended. The two things that matter most to me, are the build quality - rated excellent, and the responsiveness of the vendor - also rated excellent. I do not suspect any problems with Ice this year, and if there are, I'm sure the vendor will assist.Update: Gone thru my first winter! My freezing problem did NOT rear its ugly head this year. No Ice! This tape worked perfectly. Highly recommended and great vendor support

Works great; worth the money
We have a 1:12 slope roof and there is almost no insulation in the (uphill) roof of the original part of the house. The snow melts and trickles down to the well insulated part. We used to get massive icicles that looked like they would tear the corner of the house off. These are the first cables strong enough to keep a path melted so the water gets to the ground. See the 8' stalagmite from one of the loops. Excellent product.

Prevent ice dams on south facing roof
For two winters, mine is the only house in a row of south-facing townhouses that never has icicles. The cable runs though the gutter and drain pipe, and keeps them clear if left on all the time.Prior to installing this cable, I had to go up on the roof to clear ice throughout the winter. I can now say that this cable completely solved that problem.
