Briggs & Stratton 33S877-0019-G1 Professional Series 19 HP 540cc Vertical Engine

I don’t do many reviews on products, but in this case I will. Because this information may be very useful to someone else that had the same problem or concerns. My 42” inch cut Husqvarna model YTH18524 engine shattered the piston arm cause of the balancer broke and it made the piston rod just explode. The motor was the 18.5HP 33R777-0005-G1 and I was looking for replacing just the parts. But it was a catastrophic failure in the motor. So I was on a hunt for a new motor… come to find out, the 33R777-0005-G1 are discontinued. So now I was upset cause now, I need to find a new Mower now versus a new motor… I was upset to say the least. But I started doing a lot of research on replacing the motor still. From the marketplace, eBay to amazon. Wasn’t sure buying a used motor on marketplace or eBay would been the best idea.. So got on amazon and seen the 19HP 33S877- 0019-G1 Motor. I researched into this motor extensively to make sure all components are compatible with my Husqvarna YTH18524. To my surprise, it was compatible with my mower. So I ordered it. I came fast, earlier than expected. Packaged well. Took the old motor out and dropped the new one in. Note the 19HP 33S877-0019-G1 “DOESN'T HAVE THREAD FOR EXISTING BOLTS” you can either use a threader and cut your own threads or you can get bolts and just bolt it on. The motor mount holes lined up perfectly and bolted on with ease. The electric harness was an exact match so all I had to do was plug and play, and connect the starter wire. Now with my mower it’s not a side exhaust, it’s a front exhaust and I ordered the 532137352 Muffler Kit (Muffler & 692236 Gasket) for Husqvarna and took off the side muffler that comes with the motor and switched with the front muffler and it fits perfectly. Pleased with how easy it was to install and pleased with how it runs. Be sure to add oil to it before starting it. The motors don’t come with the oil in it. So be sure to add oil before starting. As for value. It was well worth buy the motor and replacing that instead of buying a new lawnmower. And the power of the lawnmower was exactly the same as the old motor I took out. Hope this helps someone else out there.

Just got it today and installed it in my 2006 Craftsman LT2000. This model is a great replacement for my 31P777 0602 motor which was slightly smaller in power (18.5HP vs 19HP) mounting holes line up perfectly but as you may have read from others who have purchased this engine, the mounting holes are not threaded. I optioned for putting 5/16" x 1 1/4" bolts (the aswer autobot told me 3/8" but that was too big) with nuts and lock washers instead of threading the holes. Electrical plug mates up just right. Make sure to remove the little black plug for the throttle slide, it's very small and easy to overlook. This engine has side exhaust muffler. I read where some customers had a bottom exhaust on their old engine and decided to buy the optional bottom exhaust muffler. My old muffler was in good shape but still I wanted to see if the side exhaust caused a problem and IT DID NOT. I still have plenty of clearance between the muffler and the cowling. In the box there is a deflection plate for the muffler and I installed mine where the port faces in a down and foward direction. I'll keep an eye on it to see if it causes any issues with heat transfer to the cowling. I'll update again after I have mowed a few time but for now I am very pleased with my purchase.

I bought this engine to re-power an old 48" Scag walk-behind mower after the Kawasaki FC420v finally quit the engine has the same bolt pattern as the old one however the bolt holes are larger and unthreaded. I opted for using bolts and nuts instead of tapping the holes. the drain holes even lines up perfectly. this engine is slightly wider then the old one and the oil filter juts out from the engine block so I had to cut a little of the scag in order to accommodate it. once I had everything hooked up and running I found that this engine has plenty of power and runs alot smoother than the old engine. unfortunately this engine is electric start only so I had to convert my machine from pull start to electric. I wish Briggs and Stratton offered this engine with a pull start. my biggest problem with the engine is the lack of proper instructions. it comes with a generic operators manual for a range of engines including this one with very little useful information in it. the 6 pin connector is totally undocumented, although it's pretty easy to lookup online or by just tracing the wires it would be nice to include such a diagram in the literature. the primary fail of the engine is the governor. the operator manual explicitly states to not modify the governor in any way however you MUST modify it in order for the engine to actually work properly. on the governor plate there is a small plastic peg that you must remove for the throttle to work (nothing tells you to remove it but it's pretty obvious when you look at it) what isn't obvious is that you must also remove the screw in the hole labeled 'R'. the 'R' stands for 'Readystart' which is an electronically controlled choke system that Briggs uses on some model engines. the problem is it isn't on this engine so with the screw installed you're totally unable to choke the engine. this engine was very hard to start until I realized that it didn't have Readystart and that the Governor was misconfigured, then it worked fine. Briggs and Stratton should include better installation instructions that tell you this or ship the engine with a properly configured governor

Drop in, plug n play!! I purchased this engine to replace an 8 yr old Briggs that had seized. self tapping base was not an issue and gas lines connected accordingly. I connected the battery cable to the starter, topped the oil, and turn the key. Started right up and no carb adjustments needed. Everything was ready to go in less than 40 minutes since I had already removed the bad engine. We were moving the lawn the in less than an hour from when I took it out of the box.

I used this engine to replace an 18.5 HP Briggs and Stratton on a YTH18542 Husqvarna lawn tractor. It was a exact fit no modification needed. And the shipping was much faster than other companies couldn't deliver the order. I mean days as compared to weeks. Have about 6 hours on the engine and it is running beautifully.

Perfect fit and easy to replace. I bought it for my daughter who's motor locked up. The mower was only two years old and so now she has an almost brand new mower agaiin
