I rarely leave reviews, but this one indicates a great product. I’ve tried various filters, from cheap to expensive, and this one surpasses expectations. My well water is high in iron (reddish clay), but this filter works wonders. Highly recommended, though the price is on the expensive side.

This is the go-to water softener filter we use every month for bad water in our neighborhood. Works great with sediment removal. Helps extend life of tank. Got in on subscription and keep six month supply on hand.

I’ve been using these “dual gradient” whole house water filters for more than 15 years to remove any sediment from our well water. The benefit of a dual gradient filter is they act like two separate filters – the first layers remove larger sediment (e.g. silt, sand) down to 25 microns and the inner layer removes tiny particles –down to 5 microns. These filters do not remove chemicals or improve taste – they simply remove particles/sediment from the water. When our well was first dug, I had to change filters every 2~3 months. Within a year, that slowed to 4~6 months, now after 20 years – I typically change the filter annually, or sooner if I notice a pressure drop. I also have a 3-stage filter system under the kitchen sink for drinking/cooking/ice-cube water which filters to 1 micron and removes bacteria and viruses. Note: The more sediment that is in your water, the more often you will need to change your filter. Some reviewers complained that their filters clogged after only a few months… gee, that is what a filter is supposed to do. Pentair does make another model (DGD-2501) dual gradient filter with a 25 micron prefilter and 1 micron final filter. If I didn’t have separate drinking water filtration system, I would use the DGD-2501 filter – knowing that I would need to change it more often. I highly recommend the Pentair Pentek family of water filters!

I couldn't find filter type purchased when having new whole-house water system originally installed. Found this filter which appeared to be similar with same dimensions and much cheaper so purchased it. Had installed in place of old dirty filter and works wonderfully well so will order more when needing to replace filter on regular basis per directions. Price is right and so is quality!

Usually used for years they are great. I just need to change it once a year. Repeat customer I am.

Works just like any other water filter and is cheaper than in a retail store.

This is the exact product I wanted for my home water filtration system. It is more than 50% less than the stores that sell these products near me - a huge difference. I love that the filters are available in bulk so that I can stock up and never run out. Great filter for your money.

The dual gradient filter by Pentek is by far the best I have ever used, and I've tried them all. I pump spring fed creek water to fill my cistern through these filters and it has a fair amount of silt in the water. This filter lasts the longest on a fill before clogging and the water is the cleanest compared to the other pleated filters and ball of string type I've used before. I also use a 20" version as a sediment filter coming out of the cistern to the softener. The life of this filter greatly depends on the cistern filling filters I use. I like the dual gradient style because they are more resistant to clogging than any other. Kind of reminds me of the outer and inner air filter idea on a big diesel. I'll use these as long as they make them.
