Drill a hole the size of the 'expandable post' - use the wood screws to anchor the plate to the floor - use the shipping nut on the 'expandable post ' to turn it until it won't turn - it's expanded by then - after removing the shipping nut - screw the door stop on

Instructions imply that the top can be removed from the body, but it doesn't seem to budge. Does it just unscrew and I need to use a vise?

The door stop cylinder is all one piece. After installing the shaft (screw) into the floor it just screws on and off, but the cylinder itself does not come apart. We removed ours recently to have floors refinished and it was very painless. We just left the screw sticking up for the floor guys to work around. Then after the floors were finished we just had to screw the door stops back on. Hope this helps.

(1) What is the distance from the floor to the top of the rubber on the 2 3/8" floor door stop?

Measuring from the floor, the black rubber part goes from just past 1-1/2" to 2-1/8". So the top is at about 2-1/8".

How tall does the screw have to come from the ground? I cannot get it to attached at all.

I can't remember well. I believe it was like 3/4" It comes with 2 diferent types of screws. One Wedge anchor and 3 small screws setting a base.
