Couldn't be happier.
Could not be more satisfied. I purchased and have owned the ViewHD, via Amazon, for several months, through Amazon Prime, and received it within one working day. Works fine on an 12 year old Sharp(CRT), in our bedroom. Like other users, reading text, particularly when using the Kodi/Genesis on my Fire HDTV, is a little difficult, but who is complaining when you are able to view any type of video source, without outgoing a bunch of unnecessary bucks. Besides, by wife and grandchild are happy. I can now view any of my HDMI sources on an old [CRT] set that I have in the garage. I pack it in my luggage, with my other devices, when traveling, to have just in case. Basically, with the ViewHD you have portability and ease of use. Note 1: One hiccup I encountered was that a direct connection, from the ViewHD to the Video in on the Sharp(CRT), yielded a good but black and white picture. As I had already successfully tried the box on two other LCDs and an 11 year old Toshiba, I figured it was just some type of compatibility/electrical/electronic issue of some sort with the Sharp, not the box.. So I ran the composite OUT, of the box to the analog IN on a old Panasonic VHS/DVD combo and ran the video OUT from the combo machine to the analog IN on the Sharp. Problem solved. Good picture, with a minor color adjustment, we're good to go. Transmitting sources being used, one at a time of course: ATT UVerse, 1 year old Panasonic Blu Ray, Amazon Fire HD T.V. Receiving devices: Sharp(CRT), Panasonic combo recorder/playback, and Lite On DVD recorder, and a Sharp VHS recorder player. Note 2: I have run the Converter box into a selector switch which allows me to easily choose which HDMI device I want to view on the old CRT. I have all the power adapters and some other devices plugged into a powered control panel, making it easy to turn any particular device, including a small fan to keep some devices cool, on or off. Having worked in commo, in the military, heat can be an enemy, over the long haul, to electronic devices. Note 3: With UVerse, when using the ViewHD, I sometimes have a problem recording some content, to my DVD recorder, to view later. No such problem exists with VHS recorders. There are devices, some sold here at Amazon, that will help with that type of recording problem. This is in no way an endorsement to do anything illegal. **Update: Jan 02, 2020** I have had this for this for about five years and it is still performing well for my needs. I recently becaming a Chrome Cast user, I was able to use it and Chrome Cast to view movies streamed from kodi, on my Samsung J7 telephone through the a hotel's flat screen tv. I plugged the converter into the tv's inputs, which are used for gaming consols. My wife and I did not have to put up with the limited, crummy programming provided to the hotel by a cable provider.

This is the best HDMI converter
This is the one that you want. There are so many of these on Amazon, and I have bought many different devices that do this function. Some of them did not work from the beginning, and I had to return them. Some work for a while, and then stop working, I don't know why. I use these to send the signal from my devices that have HDMI out, over my video network. I need the RCA's to plug into my modulators. I have another one of these already, that has been working for well over a year. This is my second, and it works like a charm. It is a little more expensive than the cheap ones, but it is well worth it. It is just made better, you can tell that from handling it.

Works Great - watch the PAL vs NTSC switch though!
I was worried about this product since so many other products had reviews stating they did not work. This one cost a little more, so I hoped it was made well. I had one issue - out of the box it was set to PAL instead of NTSC. So I was getting scrolling black and white tv. Once I realzied the error and flipped the switch it worked perfect! So far I have tested with a direct TV signal and a PC signal sending HDMI. I intent though to use it with a Raspberry Pi 2 as a MAME machine sending old video game signal to a CRT. Mame stuff looks better on a CRT anyway so I am thinking this will work well! Plus it is hard to find an LCD that would fit into an old video game cabinet. So this is a great choice and is cheaper than an LCD!

Replacement working as expected. Was: Dead out of the box.
This is another updated review (see the initial reviews below). It's now been nearly two years since I put this unit in operation. Unfortunately, over the past year, it has developed a very annoying 60Hz buzz on the audio output. The video quality is unaffected. If there is constant audio on the soundtrack, you can easily ignore the buzz, but if you are watching anything with periods of low or no noise, it is very annoying. As an audio technician with 40 years of experience, I have thoroughly tested all of the connections to ensure this is not caused by a grounding error. It appears that the buzz is coming from within the unit itself. The unit also seems to not pass audio under certain power-on conditions, but that can be corrected by shutting everything off and then back on again. I will be shopping for a replacement. Down grading from 4 to 3 stars. Four star review: I've had this unit in operation for about 3 months now, with no complaints. Every once in a great while it will "drop a frame" or something similar, causing a very brief blip in the output. But otherwise, it is working as advertised/expected. I am using this unit to convert the HDMI output from a BluRay player to S-video, which is what the rest of the system is wired with. Suffice to say that the output to S-video is all that I would expect, and I am very please with the quality. This was a far more economical and cost effective solution than rewiring my entire setup.. Original one-star review: The 5VDC power supply was dead out of the box. After substituting another 5VDC power supply, the power on LED illuminated but the unit would not pass a video signal. Returned to Amazon for a refund, ordered a second unit as a replacement. We shall see. I'll post my review of that one as well.

Sony wide screen projector tv KP-51WS500 - HDMI to composite converter
I have older technology tv that worked perfectly, just too old to have HDMI or blue tooth technology. Even RadioShack told me no product existed to do what I wanted. This seller was awesome, all cords & adapter included. Out of box, easy connection, worked upon first setup. I was able to access Netflix right away, the reason I upgraded my blue ray player. The only down side is that the adapter cord is awfully short & adapter plug kinda clunky in power strip, but that is a manufacturer issue. I highly recommend this product to convert your older technology, compared to other products out there that do not work, also reasonably priced.
