Hawthorn has a long history of usage as a gentle heart & circulatory system tonic with an excellent safety record. Hawthorn is in the rose family. I love it, needed a bigger bottle

I've got atrial fibrillation (up until a few months ago, I had atrial flutter - for more than 12 years) -- and the standard beta-blockers (inderal, etc.) and calcium-channel blockers caused too many unbearable side effects (mainly a low-to-mid level depression and insomnia - sleeping 2-3 hours per DAY). I told my cardiologist that enough was enough of that stuff - I was driving a tractor-trailer long-haul on the West Coast - and the depression and insomnia were killing me. I heard about an excellent Naturopath in town (Vancouver, WA at that time), and I went to see her. She treated the depression with some homeopathic remedy (carcinosin) and came up with a tincture based upon Hawthorn -- which had been used in Europe for centuries for heart issues, including arrhythmias. It worked … and, when I moved away several years later, she gave me the 'recipe' for the tincture so that I could make it myself. Herb Pharm Hawthorn Blend Extract is what I use - among other herbal extracts from the Herb Pharm - and I've been using it successfully for all of these years. My poodle was diagnosed with CHF in November 2015. I immediately went online to check for natural remedies for the symptoms and I found this item with the review it was being used for a dog with CHF. It was the coughing that needed some type of treatment for my dog. I was already getting the meds from vet for heart and fluid retention. Didn't want to give the diuretic full dose because it does cause kidney failure. Our vet isn't educated on natural remedies and wouldn't/couldn't give us any suggestions. I found that most dogs do not live long after the diagnosis of CHF because its usually the late stage symptoms that cause the vet visit. This month is one year to date of my dogs initial diagnosis and I know this hawthorn blend has something to do with that. He is breathing better now than he was months prior to the initial diagnosis. I think each recheck visit he has the vet is amazed he's doing so well. There are other things I do as well to help his breathing but this one is by far the BEST. I would recommend this to anyone who has a pet with CHF because what more do you have to lose?
