Like all such drives for recent computers and size constraints, this tool, while very effective for its use, take great care to not damage it when inserting, removing a CD/DVD and then closing the drive tray

I thought it was a full size drive tbh.. my shock when I got a laptop drive. 😭. That's my mistake but still a good little drive for money.

Exactly what I was looking for at a great price.

I had to reorder this twice, first two times the 9.5mm, which was actually a 12.5mm, but amazon took it back both times with no problems. Description says 9.5mm and 7mm, but it really means 12.5mm and 9.5mm, so beware when you're purchasing which size. It's quite loud, but I don't mind the noise. It's great for the money and easy to set up; my computer recognized it right away, but you might need to buy an adapter for the power port depending on what desktop/laptop you have. I used this for my HP desktop tower.

It worked fine when i first installed it. a couple of weeks later, the tray will not open. i have requested a replacement. i will modify this review if that works out. Also, it did not come mounting screws. i had a quite a time finding one from my old discarded hard drives.

This optical drive fits perfectly in my HP Slimline computer. It would be much better if it included the latching module too. I had to order mine from E-bay. The optical drive works very well for regular use, but not great for gaming. Thankfully I am not a big gamer!
