great deal, fast shipping, fantastic casting material
Starting to cast some small sculptures - this stuff is great! I used a castmaster crucible, which is also great (once I dialed in the fire!!). These bars are cool just to use as paperweights!

It is zinc as far as I can tell and it shipped fast.
The zinc is bigger than it looks in the pic so to fit in in my crucible (tin can) I sawed it in half with a hack saw. Then I tried to melt it in a round charcoal grill that I have but no longer use. I used wood as fuel. My first attempt to melt it failed. The bigger the item the more it can dissipate the heat applied to it and the harder it is do get it to start melting. My second attempt I made a wire cage to keep the crucible upright and I piled a generous amount of small logs in the grill. I blew on the fire through a thin copper tube every minute or so. I thought it wasn't going to melt but then when I prodded it with my tube the skin or top layer of the bar came off and in a little wile the whole bar melted. I was trying to make a little axe head but my mold was made of pure clay and it exploded when the metal touched it. since I now had no mold I put the zinc back on the fire and dug 3 depressions in the dirt, then poured the zinc in them to get 3 smaller and more manageable bars that I hope will melt easier than the big bar. I measured the volume but now I can't find were I wrote the measurements. Its about as much metal as is in a 3 or 2lb metal hand weight. I give it four stars cause it was what I wanted but I expected smaller bars, I hope in future amazon will provide a point of reference like a coin or hand or something in their sample pictures.

Quality zinc
Exactly as advertised, great quality zinc ingot, it cast wonderfully, far better than found zinc scraps, and seemed to be very pure, definitely a good purchase!

Bar-ish shaped hunk of metal
Priced at many times the market value of zinc per pound. Even higher than its availability on your own web site. Im a little dismayed to see it looks nothing like the pictures. Doesn’t say zinc anywhere on it. Looks like something my neighbor Eddie produced from recycled batteries. Still it arrived at agreed upon price.
