They will strip paint and light rust, beyond that no way

A few folks "got their panties in a bunch" because the old version of this device had a metal hub. The new version, now shipping, has an improved plastic hub. (see photos). The new hub improves things; 1. lower profile, 2. Easy on and off 3. Look closely and you will see their are fan blades molded into the hub which pulls the dust off the surface and slings it out of the way.I'm using them to strip 2K paint from my S15 GMC truck making ready to repaint. They work really well for this purpose, using a Milwaukie battery powered angle grinder.Looking at the picture; you can see a used one compared to a new one. The grinding surface wares out LONG Before the hub shows any signs of ware.They do ware out though... I will probably go thru 3 of them on this truck job.They are the best mechanical strippers that I have found for this type of stripping.I highly recommend them!!!UPDATE:They also work great for smoothing out curb rash on mag wheels.I managed to gouge about a 12" section of the back wheel on my BMW and this thing cleaned it up really nicely.Of course; painting is then required...

If you prefer a smooth cooking surface on your cast iron, this little wheel is a good investment. Mounted on a small side grinder, it removes old seasoning and creates a smooth surface quickly and with little effort. This is the best tool that I have found to make modern Lodge cookware as useful as the vintage cast iron pieces. This little devil (Diablo) mounts directly on the 5/8-11 grinder shaft.A dust mask and eye protection are a must-have when using this wheel on cast iron.

At first appearance, it seemed as though it might be up to the job but no go. My friend accidentally spilled some paint on the driveway and it's been a problem trying to remove it.

I use these to clean my props and shafts. They do a great job and don't damage the base materials. I do whish they lasted a bit longer. I would recommend them.

I purchased these to cleanup 2 cast iron pans for reseasoning. They made quick work at stripping the rust, carbon build up, and getting me down to bare shiny metal. I think that this pad is likely completely used up. So, I don't know if they would be cost effective if you needed to handle a large project. However they did everything that I needed done, so I'm a happy customer.

These things are fantastic. Threaded hub mates right to my grinder and makes changeout simple and easy. The price may seem a deterrent but they work like a dream and save a ton of time without plugging up like sand paper. I purchased these to have on hand because I have become addicted to them for rust and paint removal.

Does work well, but don't hit anything that's not flat with it...which is somewhat common sense..flat surface cleaning is awesome though...
