Great Battles for Boys The American Revolution : Giorello, Joe: desertcart.in: Books Review: My 9 year old son who very rarely stops talking or moving or throwing the baseball/football around the house is DEVOURING this book! He says he finds it really interesting to learn about battle formations, the different types or weapons they used and what both sides had to endure during the war. Every day he’ll tell me something new that he read about which I love because it means he’s actually comprehending and retaining what he’s reading. Review: I have a grandson (third grader) who has become interested in history and America's wars in particular. I'd judge this as probably a fifth-grade reading level, but my grandson is a voracious, very capable reader. He devoured this book and is looking forward to more in the series. Especially like that it is accurate and doesn't skirt that war is brutal, but is not gruesome. I also loved the links to historical documents and articles from the day (these references s in the WWII books are terrific). Well written, well-told stories. Glad we found them.

American History as adventure! Author Joe Giorello does an excellent job bringing the Key Battles of the American Revolution to life in a way that educates and entertains! Not only is the text compelling, but the book is filled with black and white vintage illustrations that help the reader visualize the time period. Giorello brings you the tension of battle as you stare through the stinging cannon smoke to see how many Redcoats are still advancing. Informative and exciting, 'Great Battles for Boys' tells how brave men and women fought for life, libery and justice for all! Highly Recommended.
