Q: Is the calc release easy to use?

Yes, the slide unlocks and you can wipe out the inside, or use a small brush. It is surprising how much accumulates each time I use it. The cover slips easily back into place and the slide locks it.

Q: Does this stem on 1 setting?

My iron is blue and white not black. It has a dial which rotates to set the temperature. The lowest settings produce no steam because they are not hot enough. But any setting from 'Synthetics' upwards (eg Cotton, Linen) produces steam efficiently, either to squirt or through holes in the main surface of the iron.

Q: Do I need cartridges for this iron?
