Excellent basic armor
Fit: This armor is a little on the snug side for me (I normally take an XL long shirt), but I was able to wear it with a regular shirt underneath. I don't think I could have managed as well with a heavy padded shirt underneath. Getting it on without assistance is possible, but it is much easier if you have help to get everything strapped together properly. The edges of the armor are sharp, and I will probably find a way to put a bit of padded tape along the inside of the edges to prevent snagging on my shirt or skin while moving. I wore the armor for several hours without any serious issues, but I would certainly want to cover the edges if I was going to be more active while wearing it. I did not find the weight objectionable at all, but it is rather heavy, so be sure you can lug around this much steel if you plan on wearing for extended periods of time.Look: The armor looks awesome. I wore it to an event where everyone else was wearing more traditional costume armor and accessories, and received many compliments. Be warned that most children (and some adults) will feel the need to tap the armor to see if it is really metal. The seams along the sides of the armor where the front and back come together are easily hidden or at least minimized by a cloak or other period appropriate garb, but even these don't detract from the overall appearance. There is a protrusion in the front where three creases come together (visible in the stock photo)- this sticks out further than you'd expect. It does add tremendous strength to the form of the armor, but it sticks out a bit too far for my taste.Realism: Not 100 percent accurate for any particular style of armor, but overall quite a good representation of basic plate armor. The steel is obviously quite a bit lighter than real plate armor, but unless you are going into combat this isn't noticeable. There is no plastic to be found anywhere on this armor- it is all steel with leather straps.Other: The front and backplates are completely detachable units, as are each of the shoulders. You could easily wear the breast and backplates without the shoulders, or if you picked up a couple of simple straps you could wear the breastplate without the backplate (if you were wearing a cloak with it for example). So a bit of flexibility there. The metal will dent slightly if hit with a cold steel training sword (or anything else relatively sturdy). The armor comes oiled to prevent rust. This is not made from stainless steel; it will rust if you don't care for it. You can remove the oil with a rag for wear, but when placed into storage you should give it a light coating of oil to protect the steel. Most hardware stores have cans of spray oil that would work just fine.I rated five stars because although there are some shortcomings to the armor, I was unable to find anything approaching this level of quality for the price.

Excellent Breastplate, Highly Recommend for Novices
Good quality steel. Looks just like the pictures.Dimensions may be a bit strange and require some shaping. I was able to do this easily by putting my knee on it and bending the right areas with my hands until it fit me. Is now comfortable and looks good. Does not pinch even without padding after shaping. Would still recommend padding.Straps are difficult to tighten when alone, but possible. I would recommend assistance putting it on at least the first time.Product comes well oiled to prevent rust as it is bare metal. Easily removable with a cloth. Would recommend a good coat of paint or at least a clearcoat if oil is removed.Breastplate works well with other pieces of armor. Pauldron straps were good for keeping another set of arm armor in place. Tassets fit below the breastplate as well.Overall, excellent product. The price is very good compared to similar products, but this is my first suit of armor so I have little experience. However, it is proving to be everything I was hoping for starting out.

Great set of armor for a decent price
Looks great, opened it up and found the corner on the bottom left on the chest was bent, no big deal, bent it back into proper shape.Leather straps are in great shapeIt fits like it was custom made for meOnly issues I have, the edges are very sharp. Cut myself a few times taking off the pauldrons but it's an easy fix. Wear padding under the armor or get some weather seal made for 18 gauge steel and glue it around the edges.Second issue, the rivits that hold the leather straps extend about 1/8 inch from the interior of the armor. Easy fix as well, take some camping foam and put it over the areas that you need it or wear some actual padding like they use to.I use this to larp and it's awesome. For the price I paid for this I don't mind putting a little bit of work into it to make it safe for me to use in combat.

Excellent product! The metal was well-polished and shiny when it arrived. It's durable and the straps are easy to understand. It is rather roomy, so people in smaller sizes might need some extra padding underneath. The shoulder pad edges are a bit sharp, so watch out! It should be noted that there are not any straps for the lower portion of the shoulder pads, so some may need to be added in order for them to fit snuggly around the arms. Overall, it's exceptional considering the price. I would definitely recommend it!

Better then expected
I wore it for the first time to a renaissance fair , got a bunch of compliments and after 7 hours of walking around my shoulders felt fine and it wasn’t weighing me down like I expected. It came with 2 spots with a little rust but was able to clean off. The quality is great for show but got a few small dents and scratched from basic wear and use for the day. I got stuck in it the first time trying it on so you might need some help getting it all strapped in but all in all it was a great choice.

A great and sturdy piece!!
I bought this for use in a costume/light HEMA. The item comes well oiled and is very sturdy. Do keep in mind that the side buckles might not Aline perfectly out of the box and might take some bending to put them in place. Also, the rivets inside poke a little bit out but it’s no big deal as I just glued some padding over them. Definitely worth it!

You (dont) get what you pay for
Well, it is what it is. Cheap steel welded together, poorly. Good armor is dished into shape and is not made through welded sections. If you're a bigger guy, say 230lbs+, it won't fit, even if you're only wearing it over a tshirt, forget wearing it over chainmaile or a padded gambeson. You might be able to bend it to fit better, but thats a bandaid at best. The corners of the pauldrons are likely to get caught under the beast and backplates and dig into you. If you want a cheap set of armor and you're a M to S build, you'll likely be ok, but buyer beware you do get the cheapness that comes with this. I returned mine and will instead spend the extra to have a custom set built to my measurements from a better manufacturer.
