Excellent drive
I bought this as I needed a USB drive with a write-protect switch for storing backups of my Linux system. It works perfectly and data transfer is fast. It also has a useful light which shows when data is being read or written. The construction feels robust. I recommend this drive for anyone who needs a USB drive with write-protect facility.

Works as advertized, worth the price.
This flash drive is exactly what I needed for exactly the right price range. If you're looking for a hardware write switch, this will serve you well. If you don't know why you'd want that, you probably don't need it (or at least, should do some research first).

Works as advertised
The write protection feature seems to work as it should. The write-protection is activated by operating a small slider switch on the side of the unit. The switch doesn't slide easily from one position to the other so although accidental movement of the switch is possible I don't think it likely.By way of a qualitative performance asessment I offer the following:The device was inserted into a USB-3.0 port on a 64-bit computer running with the "openSUSE 42.1" edition of GNU/Linux.The USB memory was fully erased using the command"dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdd bs=128k"The operation completed after 400 seconds, a transfer rate of 19.8 MB/s.A 4.4GB ISO image file was then transferred onto the device using the command:"dd if=name_of_image_file.iso of=/dev/sdd bs=128k"This operation completed after 234 seconds, a transfer rate of 18.7MB/s.By way of comparison the same operations were performed on a 3 year old Transcend 16GB USB 3.0 memory stick that has been overwritten about three dozen times duing its life. The Transcend device was inserted into the same computer port and all operating conditions were essentially unchanged. The comparable values were 17.8MB/s for writing lots of zeros (the write finalization took a long time) and 12.7MB/s for writing the ISO image file.In my case the Kanguru USB stick is used to hold DVD images of GNU/Linux distributions that are then used to install GNU/Linux on computers that do not have DVD drives. Using a read-only medium is desirable because if the installation is started from a writeable USB stick then the installation process will treat the USB stick as a built in drive and will sometimes attempt to install the bootloader onto the USB stick instead of onto the computer's own hard disk.BOTTOM LINE:Performance is as good as I'm accustomed to and the write protection works, and therefore I've no complaints so far.

Pen drive with a write protect switch
Excellent, hard wearing pen drive. It was the only one that I could find with a write protect switch. I use this in computers that may have malware on them, for extra security.
